SITE CULTURE Location: Rainbow Bridge National Monument, Lake Powell, UT 37.0774° N, 110.9644° W Rainbow Bridge has drawn national attention for its cultural significance to a group of Native American people including the Navajo, Hopi, Paiute, Zuni and Ute tribes. Weather: In Page, the summers are hot and mostly clear, the winters are very cold and partly cloudy, and it is dry year round. The best time of year to visit Page for hot-weather activities is from late June to late August. Travel: Summer is prime time at Lake Powell. The days are long and sunny, the water is warm, the sunsets are breathtaking and there are no bugs. For relaxing, for exploring, and for adventure, summer is ideal for anyone who loves water sports and stargazing.

EXHALE SANCTUARY SPIRTUAL PRAYER PLACE ON US-MEXICO BORDER SITE ANALYSIS
BORDER PROBLEMS
Tijuana is noted for its rough terrain, which includes many canyons, steep hills, and mesas. Semi-arid, generally mild to warm weather yearround. It has characteristics of the Mediterranean climate.
Religion is central to the lives of many Latin Americans. The majority of those arrested were families or children traveling alone or without a parent, and are fleeing the harms caused by corruption, gangs, poverty, political upheaval, and environmental vulnerabilities in their home countries. The number of migrants coming to the border seeking asylum has hit the highest total in almost a decade. The U.S. Border Patrol apprehended more than 66,000 migrants in February and 76,000 in March in 2018.

Opaque Skin
Mechanical Diagram The Exhale Sanctuary will be constructed with two parts: two different qualities of stretchable fabrics for the architectural skin and double-skinned polygonal plastic material for the structure. When there are no people in prayer, the air-bags are inflated in form and has a better light transmission quality. With more and more people sitting or kneeling in prayer, the gravity produced will drag the strings that are connected to the air bag back into the interior space and thus creating a transitional spatial experience between light and dark, active and quiet, spacious and packed.

Public State View
The Exhale Sanctuary is a prayer space where migrants can go to pray and meditate at the border. The Exhale Sanctuary can serve as a mental asylum and provide spiritual and emotional support for people who are in a desperate plight. Ultimately, it creates a gathering space to bring migrants together, which will allow them to meet people with similar stories and gently keep each other company. The Exhale Sanctuary is a safe space of refuge. It not only serves as a physical place of shelter, but also brings back the vastness of nature or the comfort of home. It can be rooted in memory, the peacefulness of solitude or company, or feelÂings of nostalgia.
Transitional State View
Praying State View
To represent the idea of sacred and intimacy, I set the view in a very central and symmetric location. I put more people sitting or kneeling in prayer on the seating to indicate that the gravity produced will pull the airbags back and transform the interior spatial experience.
RED IN DARK Hot Pot Restaurant in Film-esque Scenarios Interior Design Studio 3 • Restaurant Design
The Red in Dark Hot Pot Restaurant used fire as a way to encourage people to intensify and release their emotions. Whether that is positive or negative, space motivates people to express themselves and walk out of their routine experience. The interiors promote the development of the people’s relationships during the meal, likewise unveils the storyline or visually complement the central conflict.
Research
Site
The existing building is located on Valencia St & 25th St, San Francisco, California. The site includes an open courtyard. The building has two entrances on Valencia St and a back door on Orange Alley.
Palette
Neighborhood
As the modern hub of San Francisco’s vibrant Mission District, Valencia Street is home to some of the city’s hottest destination eateries, funky independent shops, and eye-popping murals.
Drama
Heart rate, breathing, visual and auditory processing, these all flare up in the presence of anything ‘dramatic’. Humans are attracted to drama because it stimulates our minds and bodies.
Food
Hot pot is less of a dish than it is an experience, encapsulating the communal dining ethos. The attraction of hot pot also resides in its chili color and the aroma of an array of ingredients cooked.

FURNITURE SELECTION
FILM SCENARIO I have placed fire physically in the restaurant, with the two different circumstances. In the bar area, when people first see the crazy and eyecatching flames, they’re visually shocked by the atmosphere. The large flames can make people feel engulfed by the fire like they are alone and comfortable enough to be vulnerable and drunk. At the same time, the flames also allow people to build the courage to approach the stranger he/she sees crying. In contrast, the lounge area with the gentle fire pit gives off a warm romantic picturesque feeling. Couple seating in this elevated independent glass box burnt their stuff. The smoke will be gradually filled into the hollow glass wall and turned the place into a battlefield.

SENSORY & CUSTOM CUSTOM CEILING DESIGN
To create an artistic atmosphere, I used white translucent silk to assemble an installation as the custom ceiling. With the pendant lights being inside and outside the fabrics, it gives off direct and indirect light. The lights are about 90 CRI and 3000K to offer enough white light for task reading.

RESPIRE Scarlett Zhang | Moon Lou | Yuhan Zhao We s e e t he s ha d i n g s y s t e m s a s t he architectural skin. To humanize the building, we designed a breathable skin. It produces a dramatic visual effect that adds to the beauty of the form. By controlling the moving direction and distance, it transforms from 2D to 3D and fully covered to quite exposed.

These side tables come as individual units and can be gathered to bring a nature-like atmosphere indoor. Each surface can be taken apart to be portable at a cocktail party for the drink or for your hand to land on. It’s also a magic wand for your outfit.
