WEST LOS ANGELES CIVIC CENTER The Environmental Impact Review (EIR) process has begun for the WEST LA COMMONS PROJECT. Sawtelle neighbors and stakeholders now have an opportunity to comment on what the project will bring to the neighborhood: added population, added vehicle emissions, the loss of mature trees, and the demolition of the 1950s mid-century historic courtyard, bandshell, and surrounding structures. Los Angeles is the city with the least public open space in the United States. Although this development is on public lands, no added open space is be added to the current site which will serve 1,600+ new residents as well as the current 9,000+ mostly apartment dwellers who live nearby. Your best opportunities to join discussions to modify this project are to submit comments* to the Environmental Impact Review (EIR) process and to attend the scoping meeting on Tuesday, June 14.
Attend the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Scoping Meeting to learn more about the proposed project and to share your comments and feedback.
