This linear 2.5mile asphalt trail offers scenic views of the Catawba River and a great location for outdoor activities! Located near the trailhead is a canoe/kayak launch. The trailhead is also the starting point for several miles of mountain bike trails with three levels of difficulty. These recreation amenities, along with other cycling and outdoor venues, make up the Rock Hill Outdoor Center. A new trail connects the Piedmont Medical Center Trail to nearby River Park, which offers miles of beautiful wilderness and 3.25 miles (one way) of walking trails along the Catawba River. More venues are planned for the future.

Historic Brattonsville

The plantation spreads over 800 acres and includes farmed land with heritage breed animals, a Revolutionary War battlefield site with interpretive trail and a nature preserve with miles of walking trails. Seasonal events, re-enactments, and living history programs interpret life in the Carolina Backcountry from the 1750s to the 1850s. Historic Brattonsville’s award-winning African American

programs are an essential part of telling the story of the Carolina Piedmont. There is limited handicap accessibility.

The park preserves the entire battlefield in a natural setting evocative of the Carolina frontier of 1780, commemorating one of the most important American victories of the American Revolution. The park includes a 1.5-mile, walking-only battlefield trail that is dotted with monuments and markers, including the Chronicle Marker, erected in 1815 and the second-oldest battlefield monument in the U.S.; a film presentation; a museum exhibit area with battlefield artifacts; a gift shop and bookstore; and a hiking trail. There is a backcountry campsite approximately three miles from the visitor center, and horse trails are also available for visitors who bring their own horses. Kings Mountain State Park

The park has two lakes and several streams for fishing and almost 35 miles of hiking and equestrian trails. The park has a 19th-century living history farm and 115 campsites with individual water and electrical hookups, plus 10 rustic tent sites. Camps Cherokee and York provide for large groups and feature rustic cabins, a dining hall and bathhouses. A 15-site campground is designated for equestrian users. Pets must be on a leash or other physical restraint at all times. An admission fee applies to day visitors age 16 and older.

At the Velodrome, cyclists can find their home base for training and development. This year-round facility offers programs for cyclists of all stages and ages, providing equipment, instruction, and track races through partnerships with the Rock Hill Bicycle Club and other cycling advocacy groups. A certification process is required of all cyclists, regardless of cycling ability, before riding on the track.

the White Home is one of the first homes constructed in Rock Hill. Five generations of the White family cared for this treasure until 2005 when Historic Rock Hill purchased the property and began a five-year restoration effort. Today, this beautiful three-acre site includes a house museum with a collection of historic photographs and documents that tell the story of the White family and Rock Hill, as well as a gift shop featuring local artisans and South Carolina products, out-buildings and beautiful gardens. The home also serves as a venue for private and corporate events, parties, and is a perfect setting for weddings. The White Home houses the administrative offices of the Historic Rock Hill organization. We are open for tours Tuesday through Friday 10 am – 4:30 pm. Guided walking tours of downtown Rock Hill are also available by appointment. Tours start at $6.

culture and heritage of Western York County is shown through a wide variety of memorabilia that illuminates and informs visitors of the countless contributions from individuals that pioneered the region. Featuring six galleries, a library and a classroom, the museum gives visitors a taste of life that was simple, yet rewarding. From gallery to gallery, visitors will be treated to such rare items as rough plows, delicate glassware, a trip through a country store, nature room identifying animals that populated the area, dining and bed room furnishings, and much more. The museum displays a collection of artifacts that chronicles the settlement of Western York County from the prerevolutionary period to the 20th Century; a must see for history lovers. The Museum is open to visitors April through November on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm and by appointment other times.

Center for the Arts

The Center houses the offices of the Arts Council of York County, the Dalton, Perimeter, and Edmund Lewandowski Classroom Galleries, and private artist studios. The Dalton Gallery features seven to eight exhibitions each year from local, regional, national and international artists. The Center for the Arts offers space for workshops, receptions, meetings and small performances.

Gettys Art Center

and is home to the Rock Hill Pottery Center, Downtown Artistry, Social (a full-service design house), Hill City Church, and artist studios. Concerts are often held in the renovated historic courtroom on the second floor at the Gettys. It’s the perfect place to host receptions, meetings or other special occasions.

Lake Wylie and Ebenezer Park

With 325 miles of shoreline, Lake Wylie is ideal for boating, fishing, water skiing and sailing. Since portions of this lake lie in both North and South Carolina, fishermen are advised to obtain proper licenses. The temperate, yet wonderfully distinct seasonal changes not only enhance the area’s beauty, but also afford year-round enjoyment of outdoor pastimes. Pack a picnic and watch the sunset from lakeside swings or take to the lake for fishing and recreational boating. Stay overnight at one of Ebenezer Park’s 69 campsites.

Winthrop Lake and Recreation Facilities

Facilities include the Winthrop Coliseum, as well as baseball, softball, tennis, soccer and track complexes, an outdoor education center, protected Piedmont wetlands and several recreational fields. A challenging 18-hole disc golf course has been the site of U.S. and World Disc Golf championships. A driving range, where visitors may hit and retrieve their own golf balls, is located near the Winthrop Ballpark. The one-mile loop around VisitYorkCounty.com

This free tour encourages participants to step back in time and let the city’s history come to life. Old Town boasts Old Town Market, an all-local market where the community comes together to support local farmers, artisans and musicians. Several festivals are also held in Old Town each year, including St. Patrick’s Day on Main, Red, White & BOOM!, the Blues & Jazz Festival, Oktoberfest and ChristmasVille. They are punctuated with races, fireworks, parades and art crawls throughout the year. Concerts are held in Old Town each summer as part of the Old Town Amphitheater Concert Series. Past performers have included The Marshall Tucker Band, The Charlie Daniels Band, Sister Hazel, Wynonna and the Big Noise and Rick Springfield.

They incubate their own eggs, and all of their animals, with the exception of the breeder chickens, which are free to roam over the 40-acres of pasture and woodlands. Finally, they recycle their microgreen soil into raised beds where they grow root crops and more seasonal produce such as carrots, turnips, beets, radishes, herbs, and a variety of beans. Alcoholic Beverage Laws The legal drinking age for alcoholic beverages in South Carolina is 21. Alcoholic beverages cannot be served after midnight Saturday or all day Sunday, except in restaurants and bars with special permits in York County, including the cities of Tega Cay, Rock Hill and York. Package store sales of alcoholic beverages are permitted from 9 am - 7 pm, Monday - Saturday. It is unlawful for any person to possess an open container of beer, wine or liquor in a moving vehicle upon the highways of South Carolina.

South Carolina requires that an infant under 2 must be secured in a rear-facing car seat in a rear seat of the vehicle until the child exceeds the height or weight limit allowed by the manufacturer of the car seat. A child at least age 2 or under 2 who has outgrown the manufacturer’s height or weight limits for a rear-facing car seat must be secured in a forward-facing car seat in a rear seat of the vehicle until the child exceeds the highest height or weight requirements of the forward-facing car seat. Children at least age 4 who have outgrown their forward-facing car seat must be secured by a booster seat in a rear seat of the vehicle until the child can meet the height and fit requirements for an adult
