WELCOME Whilst the world is facing several crises at once, climate change does not rest and still requires our full attention and dedication. At last year’s COP26 conference in Glasgow, the British COP26 president Alok Sharma said; “We can now say with credibility that we have kept 1.5 degrees alive. But its pulse is weak, and it will only survive if we keep our promises and translate commitments into rapid action.” To reach the ambitious sustainability goals set out by the United Nations in time, collaboration across politics, academia, business, and society at large is of the greatest essence. At Impact, we bring together stakeholders from across a range of industries and some of the greatest thinkers from both Sweden and the UK to discuss our way to a greener and more sustainable future. We hope today’s summit will serve as a platform for knowledge-sharing and innovation across borders – because when it comes down to it, businesses cannot work in isolation to solve the climate emergency. We encourage you all to walk into this summit with an open mind, hope, and enthusiasm to work together towards a common goal. Today we discuss the greatest challenge of our lifetime, and how we can solve it together. Thank you all for participating in the discussion. A special thank you to Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Sweden for their support and participation in today’s events, highlighting both the importance of the sustainability cause, but also of the Swedish-British relationship. Thank you also to our Strategic Sustainability Partner Skanska, principal sponsors Electrolux and LKAB, co-sponsors AstraZeneca, Einride, Essity, Handelsbanken, King, Kinnarps, SEB, SSAB, Stena, Vattenfall, Viaplay, Voi, and Wastefront, and our partners at the Embassy of Sweden, for making this important event possible.

It takes a village to raise a child ...but it’s going to take much more to ensure that child has a sustainable future. We need the great thinkers, innovators, policymakers and naysayers to come together, create solutions and drive change. That’s why we’re working with the Swedish Chamber of Commerce to share Scandinavian insights with the UK market.

Within four years, electric cars can be fossil free.

There is more to this than meets the eye. Electric cars have zero emissions, but they are made of steel. For every tonne of steel produced in the world, almost two tonnes of CO2 are emitted as well. One car might not make much of a difference. But think of all the cars across the globe. All the wind turbines. All the trains. The good news is, this is all about to change. Together with our partners LKAB and Vattenfall, we have come up with HYBRIT, a way to produce steel without emitting CO2. Watch us go fossil free at ssab.com
