A great place to meet friends, the Grahamsville Little World’s Fair will be held from August 14-16 at the Grahamsville Fairgrounds on Route 55.
Welcome!
Dear Readers, The Sullivan County Democrat would like to welcome you to our twenty-sixth edition of “Where to Go, Where to Stay, Where to Dine.” We hope you will keep this handy 32-page guide by your side as your ticket for summer fun in Sullivan County. There is always so much to do in Catskill-Delaware Country we really do not know where to begin. But may we suggest attending our great county fair – the Grahamsville Little World’s Fair (pictured above). For 141 years this fair has been showcasing the agricultural and craft-making communities of our area and the same holds true today. It certainly is an old-fashioned fair which has added rides, entertainment, great food, games, and vendors to make it truly special. Put it on your calendar for August 14-16. For the active family we have golfing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, hiking, biking and fishing in one of the most beautiful areas in all of New York State. We have several mini-guides inside this issue and also plenty of advertisers to help get you on the right path with that “active” lifestyle. We also have an in-depth story on Hunter Lake, beginning on page 26. For those who prefer entertainment or a touch of shopping and fine food, what better place to start than right here. Our villages offer great shopping, wonderful restaurants and there’s no better time than now to check out our Dove Trail (pages 16-17). So get on your travel shoes, crack open our wonderful guide and explore everything Sullivan County has to offer. And make sure you tell them… Where to Go, Stay & Dine sent you!
