CATSKILL-DELAWARE PUBLICATIONS, INC.
Dear Readers, The Sullivan County Democrat would like to welcome you to our twenty-first edition of “Where to Go, Where to Stay, Where to Dine.” We hope you will use this handy 64-page guide as your ticket for summer fun in Sullivan County. And Summer is fun. Forestburgh Playhouse and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts have already kicked off their summer seasons and have a spectacular line-up as we head into July and August. And don’t forget to check out our great local communities! From street fairs to fireworks, concerts to the ‘New’ Little World’s Fair, Sullivan County has never had more events on tap than this year. Check out our handy summer calendar, which begins on page 26. Also, throughout this publication you will find stories and photos about some of the more popular summer venues and the great golf in our area. And as our cover shows, Sullivan County is really an area blessed with wonderful outdoor recreation and relaxation as well as great shopping and sightseeing. We have swimming, camping, boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, biking, hiking, floating, running, walking, zip lining, segwaying, water skiing, jet skiing, rock climbing, exploring, sightseeing and historical adventures, to name a few. So keep “Where to Go” in your car as you travel around the county to make sure you don’t miss a beat. Sullivan County is truly “customer friendly” and it shows. Stop by one of our many advertisers and please don’t forget to say “Where to Go, Stay & Dine” sent you.

As the Forestburgh Playhouse enjoys its 69th season in 2015, it continues to thrive and make summer nights special for residents and visitors alike. In 2014, Franklin Trapp joined the Forestburgh Playhouse’s 68th Anniversary Season as the Playhouse’s new Producer. Franklin began his theatrical career at the Playhouse as a Resident Company member in 2001. When he learned that current producer Norman Duttweiler was looking to retire, Franklin could not resist the opportunity to return to Forestburgh and maintain and grow the rich cultural legacy that the Playhouse provides for Sullivan County. Franklin is excited to make his mark on the Playhouse and plans to replace the seating and upgrade the Playhouse via large capital improvements. Above is the company of My Fair Lady from the 2014 season. For tickets or information, call Forestburgh Playhouse at 845-794-1194.

Woods Center for the Arts, Bethel; $5 for this exhibit only; or regular admission to museum for full visit. Fashion in the 1960s was a colorful explosion of thrift store finds combined with homemade accessories and off-the shelf staples. Fashion in the 1960s was a colorful explosion of thrift store finds combined with homemade accessories and off-the shelf staples. The stylistas of the day were often the popular musicians and their fans in London and San Francisco, and the big-name fashion designers had to play catch-up. The freedom and expression of those fashions have captivated the imaginations of subsequent generations, and even today high fashion takes many of its cues from the street and rock-star fashions of the 1960s and ’70s.
