COMMUNITY VIDEO ARCHIVES HALL OF FAME LUNCHEON
Community Video Archives Hall of Fame Luncheon, now in its 29th year, honors locals who have contributed much to the fabric of our community through the production of a video biography. Hosted by CVA founder and president Annette Scherman and chaired and emceed by Chris Pfhaler, this year’s “Hall of Fame” inductees were Larry Thompson, Sarasota Scene publisher Julie Milton, Jon Thaxton and Gayle Guynup.

ASOLO REP STARRY NIGHT DINNER
In its 11th season, this season’s third exclusive Starry Night dinner was held at an ultra-exclusive Sarasota home. Asolo Rep supporters enjoyed fine wines, exquisite food and wonderful entertainment from actors starring in Stephen Sondheim’s musical thriller Sweeney Todd.

SMHF GOLF TOURNAMENT
The 18th Annual Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation’s golf tournament held at Laurel Oak Country Club raised funds to benefit Sarasota Memorial Hospital’s Physician Endowment Fund, which provides continuing education for Sarasota Memorial Hospital staff. Next year’s tournament will be Friday, May 1, 2020.

DICK VITALE GALA
The 14th Annual Dick Vitale Gala was a record-setting year, raising $4.3 million for pediatric cancer research. This year, Dick honored Clemson University National Championship football coach Dabo Swinney, ESPN Broadcaster Chris Fowler and former NFL and college basketball coach and NFL championship player, Avery Johnson. The John Saunders V Foundation Courage Award recipients were Lee Corso and Holly Rowe of ESPN. Next year’s 15th Annual Dick Vitale Gala is set for Friday, May 8, 2020.

TAYLOR EMMONS CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT, POKER NIGHT & KENTUCKY DERBY PARTY
This event, which raised over $100k at the Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club, drew over 200 golfers and over 300 party-goers who bid high and bid often. Cheers to the co-chairs, Sandy Albano, Katie Emmons, Donna Halligan, Jacque Hunter and their loyal committee members. Funds raised support need-based scholarships at The Out-of-Door Academy.
