DANCE PARTNERSHIP

AIM AND CONTENT The Dance Partnership education is for professional dancers and choreographers who wish to expand their practice in the areas of participation, pedagogy and dissemination. Graduates from the education are able to initiate and facilitate dance projects, performances and teaching situations where participants are creatively and socially as well as physically involved in the artistic process. Through the acquisition of a practically applicable skill set and critical, contextualised reflection students become equipped to respond to and affect a society and a performing arts field that is constantly evolving. Taking their individual area of artistic interest as a starting point, students develop their own distinct practice within the field of participation, teaching and dissemination. This continuous research is underpinned by a practical and theoretical foundation in dance pedagogy, creative methods and entrepreneurship. The curriculum consists of classes and workshops combined with research periods where the student carries out self-defined projects. Students facilitate practical dance encounters and performance projects to specific target groups during external placements organised in collaboration with the head of the education. The education is concluded with a substantial practical and written dissertation. Collaboration with students from other specialisations and a focus on entrepreneurship prepares the student to successfully realise projects on their own and/or forge partnerships with cultural institutions upon finishing the education. The close relationship between dance and music and its relevance as a dance pedagogical tool is also in focus. Some modules are delivered in collaboration with the education Musical Accompaniment for Dance.
