Indulge in the pleasure of just looking at the pictures Scenes Magazine is spinning off a couple of new magazines, so keep an eye out for them.

Welcome to Scene 4, our latest pictorial tour of the people, places, and events of Red Bluff. As the scorching summer of 2009 is now behind us, we can be encouraged by the early October rains that have been absent the past few years, and hopeful that there are many more wet days ahead. Maybe then, after a more typical hot middle of the year and a preferably damper end of the year, we can return to business as usual in the North State. One thing that we should all learn from this worldwide economic disaster is the importance of our local economy. And it’s not as easy as just shopping locally, we have to be competitive locally. We have to shop locally because it is the best option, not just because it is the right thing to do. We have to learn what the strengths and weaknesses of big business are, and make them both our strengths. Thankfully there are no government bailouts coming to small businesses, and small businesses will be better for it.

Local riders participate in one of three competitions held in the North State Skate Series. This one, held at the Red Bluff Skate Park on Diamond Ave., took place on Sept. 26, a day that only reached about 110 degrees, and 150 on the concrete that makes up

the skate park. That’s only a slight exaggeration, but don’t think that the heat had any negative effect on their performance, as they pushed harder and faster to catch any breeze they could. If you get a chance to catch one of these events next year, do it. You’ll be amazed at what some of the local talent can do with a small slab on wheels under their feet.

hanks to Michelle Wiggley, we are able to provide photos from a local wakeboarding event from a few years back. The latest event hosted locally at Villa Lagos was the INT League Western Region Invitational, which was held at Villa Lagos from Oct. 2 – 4. If you remember that weekend, you might have thought it was a little too cold and windy for watersports, but that didn’t stop the athletes, many of which were locals, from competing at their highest level. The INT League is known as the “little league of watersports”, and hosts over 250 wakeboarding, waterskiing, kneeboarding, and wakeskating events each year, several of which are held right here at Villa Lagos. For the results of this years competition or more information regarding the event and location, go to www.intleague.com and/or www.ski-lake.com.

“The Great Explosion of Mount Lassen as seen from Walnut St. on May 22, 1915. Mt. Lassen was alive with more than 200 volcanic eruptions during a 7 year period between 1914 - 1921. The 2nd highest peak in the Lassen Volcanic National Park is Brokeoff Mountain, a remnant of Mt. Tehama, which stood more than 1000 feet higher than Lassen Peak does today.

FREE Oil Change & Car Wash

Why? What’s the catch? So many asked this at the event in the past, but truly there is no catch, it is just simply to emulate JESUS’ LOVE and CARE for our community. We are a group of Christians who want to share this with all. Red Bluff Auto Sales closes for business on that day and donates their facility to the group to give back a little in a great time of need. Other businesses came to the call, and what a great turn out it was. Over 60 complete oil changes were performed and 75 car washes. Doughnuts were served with coffee in the morning, and hotdogs, chips and water the rest of the day, all for FREE!!! There was music and prayer, just good ole’ fellowship sharing the wonderful things God does when he is in the center of our lives. Drawings for donated items at the end of the event included; an outstanding VIP package of flight line passes to the Redding Airshow, (donated by Napa Auto Parts), floorjack and stands, tool organizer, and a screwdriver set (donated by Kragen). There will be more events like this in the future and our hopes are that it will grow to truly show the character of LOVE and CARE in our community of RED BLUFF. Keep an eye out for future events to be announced, as we would love for others to get involved. Contact Sandra at Red Bluff Auto Sales if you are interested in becoming a part of this awesome experience.

Design Tip / Ideas that you can use. “Viewing carpet samples. When shopping for carpet, make sure you look at it on the floor. In the store, it’s convenient to have samples at waist height, but you need to see how it will look when installed. To truly visualize how your carpet will look, always view samples on the floor.”
