Perth

Welcome to cosmopolitan Perth for a two night stay at the Duxton Perth.

Perth fFreechoice: Journey to Rottnest Island for a chance to spot a quokka or partake in a wine tour through Swan Valley. Alternatively, enjoy a half day morning city explorer tour and cruise of Perth and Fremantle.

Perth > Kalbarri

Begin your journey north with a visit to Nambung National Park and the remarkable Pinnacles. Traveling through Geraldton see the HMAS Sydney Memorial before arriving in Kalbarri. Your two night stay is at the Kalbarri Edge Resort.

Day 04

Kalbarri

Venture into Kalbarri National Park for a leisurely day of discovery. Visit the new Kalbarri Skywalk for views over the spectacular scenery of Murchison River Gorge. Stop at Red Bluff for panoramic views of the ocean.

Monkey Mia

Travel to Hamelin Pool to see the world’s best known colony of stromatolites. Discover the secrets of Shark Bay with a visit to the Shark Bay Heritage Discovery Centre before arriving in Monkey Mia. Enjoy two nights at Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort, home to Bottlenose dolphins.

Cherish the opportunity to see the dolphins under the supervision of a national park ranger.

Freechoice: Cruise through Shark Bay searching for dugong or sail into the sunset. Alternatively, dine on damper as you listen to stories of the Dreamtime.

Carnarvon

Visit Shell Beach, formed by billions of coquina bivalve shells up to 10 metres deep, on your way to Carnarvon. Learn about the little known history of Carnarvon and the role it played in the manned space program at the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum. Spend the night at the Hospitality Inn Carnarvon.

Carnarvon > Exmouth t

Explore Coral Bay, where the turquoise blue of the ocean meets the sandy bay of Ningaloo Reef, before arriving in Exmouth. Your two night Special Stay is at the Mantarays Ningaloo Beach Resort.

Start your day with a Ningaloo Reef coral viewing cruise before visiting historic Vlamingh Head Lighthouse for stunning views over Lighthouse Bay.

Exmouth > Karratha

Travel along the North West Coastal Highway before stopping in Dampier to learn about the North West Shelf Gas project. Stay at the Karratha International Hotel.

Karratha > Port Hedland e

Explore the Pilbara and view some of the world’s most ancient landscapes before arriving in Port Hedland. Its natural deep harbour sees the export of iron ore, salt, manganese livestock and natural gas. Your overnight stay tonight is at The Hedland Hotel.

Day 12

Port Hedland > Broome

Pass through the Great Sandy Desert before arriving in tropical Broome on the Indian Ocean. With a rich history in pearling and a strong multicultural foundation, you’ll fall in love with this unique town. Your two night stay is at the Oaks Cable Beach Resort or similar.

Freechoice: Take a tour of Broome on a Harley-Davidson™ Trike or ride camels along the famous Cable Beach. Alternatively, enjoy a cultural tour of Broome with an indigenous local or discover the rare and beautiful Australian South Sea Pearl on a tour of Willie Creek Pearl Farm. Enjoy sunset at Cable Beach.

Day 14 Board ship

Enjoy the Captain’s welcome drinks with fellow travellers and friendly Coral Expeditions’ crew. Take in stunning views from the sundeck as we cruise north towards Cape Leveque.

Day 15 Lacepede Islands

Subject to weather and tides, visit the Lacepede Islands, a series of low islands consisting of coarse sand and coral rubble lying atop a platform reef. This nature reserve has been identified by Birdlife International as an Important Bird Area as it supports up to 18,000 breeding pairs of Brown Boobies and Roseate Terns, possibly the largest population in the world. Disembark and board a Zodiac to explore the island’s lagoon, keeping an eye out for many species of marine birdlife including Australian pelicans, Frigate birds, egrets, gulls and terns. The islands are also renowned as Western Australia’s most significant breeding grounds for the Green turtle, and it is often seen nesting here.

Day 16

Horizontal Falls and Buccaneer Archipelago

The visual delight of the Buccaneer Archipelago reveals Talbot Bay, where we find the natural wonder of the Horizontal Falls. The changing tide thunders through narrow gorges in the McLarty Ranges, and you can experience the thrill of traversing the falls at high speed aboard inflatable tenders.

At Cyclone Creek, view evidence of massive geological forces in the impressive rock formations, or take the Xplorer cruise through the Iron Islands, past Koolan Island, before enjoying sunset drinks at Nares Point.

Day 17

Doubtful Bay

Raft Point guards the entrance to this iconic area, with a host of destinations such as the mighty Sale River, Steep Island and Ruby Falls at Red Cone Creek. There may also be an opportunity to meet the Worrora people and experience the wonderful Wandjina art of Raft Point.

Day 18 Montgomery Reef

Montgomery Reef is a biologically diverse area covering over 300 square kilometres. This marvellous reef is home to several species of marine turtles, dolphins, dugongs, and crocodiles. As the reef emerges from the sea at low tide, we get up close in the Xplorer and inflatables to witness the spectacle. Our guides share their knowledge on the formation of the reef and the wildlife found here.

Day 19

Prince Regent River and Careening Bay

Running on a fault line, this straight river is a haven for native species. You may have an opportunity for swimming at Camp Creek, where we visit the beautiful King Cascade (swimming at freshwater swimming holes is subject to group size and local conditions).

Day 20

Prince Frederick Harbour

At the southern end of the York Sound lies one of the most spectacular locations in the Kimberley, Prince Frederick Harbour. It is home to many islands, mangroves and monsoon rainforests, set against a backdrop of steep red escarpment. Spot massive Saltwater crocodiles on a cruise up Porosus Creek, visit art sites, and marvel at rock formations.

Day 21

Mitchell Falls, Winyalkan and Swift Bay

Carved through layers of sandstone, Mitchell Falls descends over four tiers, creating pools of emerald green on each level. The option to take a scenic helicopter flight will give you a breathtaking view (additional cost), or alternatively explore the sandstone caves of Hathway’s Hideaway or enjoy a catch and release fishing excursion. Swift Bay reveals a series of fine Wandjina art galleries.

Vansittart Bay contains many sites of cultural and historical significance.

Day 23

King George River and Falls

At over 80 metres, King George Falls are the highest twin falls in Western Australia. Thousands of tonnes of water cascade over these ancient sandstone cliffs. Early in the season, you may cruise under the mist of the falls, while in later months we get up close to the sandstone walls to view the honeycomb erosion patterns.
