Canungra Post Office
For sale As a child toys were often cast aside for pretty notepads and stamps and from six years of age, she longed to own her own Post Office. To Cheryl, there was a sense of whimsy and romance to such an endeavour. She envisioned pigeon holes filled with mail waiting to get delivered, drawers and shelves filled with stamps, rubber bands and paperclips and in 1995, Cheryl was close to achieving her dream, however life had other plans and the dream was temporarily put on hold.
It wasn’t until moving to Canungra five years ago that her lifelong dream was realised. Relocating to the township of Canungra was an easy decision and a place they found immediately appealing with its ‘country feel', friendly locals and tight knit community. It was then that she and husband, Greg purchased the Post Office and home in King Street and lovingly renovated it, before purchasing their current home in Tamborine Street that again they have renovated to reflect their personal style. No matter the season, commuting to work is no more than a 3 minute walk, the LPO (Licenced Post Office) conveniently nestled amongst the ‘hustle and bustle' of Christie Street.

As Cheryl proudly opens all of the drawers in her office, it’s clear that since owning the business she has been in her element and effortlessly adheres to the saying, "A place for everything and everything in its place." Importantly, the LPO is the towns own stockist of back to school book packs, a saving grace for local parents. Having spent a number of years as a Queensland State Manager for a school supply company, this has been a pillar of the business whilst also allowing her to continue her passion for both education and stationary.
Internationally recognised as a global postal service and within Australia, just about as iconic as a jar of Vegemite, purchasing an LPO and specifically Cheryl’s LPO, comes with plenty of training as well as the joy of being part of, not only a quintessential Australian company, but the community too. As Cheryl and Greg look to pull up roots and move on to new ventures, with both home and business on the market, she looks to what might be next.
I have always wanted to own a skating rink she muses with a grin.
