SELF-ASSESSMENT

Minimalist. This is the style I usually describe my works. I do love this style and would definitely continue to use this for other projects. But as of now, I do not know if that is really how I view my work or if it is just an excuse to hide my not-so-great design skills. Mostly what I go for when designing is to have a central image and work the other components around it. This helps the viewer focus on only one element, and not be confused about the design’s message. There is still this “gap” between my taste and my work. My output now still somehow disappoints me. As Ira Glass said, I make stuff, and it’s just not that good. It’s trying to be good, it has potential, but it’s not. I know I still have to go through tons of work to get to the point wherein I close that gap. I still have my 10,000 hours. As of now, I am still exploring different techniques and design styles. My course, BFA Information Design, has been my only experience in design so far. Because of this course I learned how important design is in our world and how much I wanted to take part in it. I know I’m far from reaching my maximum capabilities, but everyday I push myself to do more to hone my skills and to maximize my potential. Basically, what I am today is still learning. I’m still trying to find who I am as a designer, and as an artist. It’s gonna take time and effort, but I know I’ll get there.
