Introduction We submit this humble 92nd Vyasa Puja offering unto the lotus feet of our Most Revered Gurudeva, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaja. His supreme humility as both a disciple and as a preceptor is infinitely worshipable. There is no observation or personal exchange with Gurudeva that is actually ordinary. The more we recall the incidences and observations we have with him, the stronger we become connected in our service relationship. It is a supremely purifying to remember and share his glories. Guru Maharaj is bestowing a very special training opportunity for us to have darsan of his complete inner absorption, but this darsan is not received by physically coming to the math, or by logging in for webcasts. Association with Gurudeva is beyond this plane. Gurudeva is always with his Paramgurudeva even though he is not manifest. Gurudeva becomes manifest when we remember him. By serving him by heart and mind, and dedicating one’s life to his instructions, actual darsan descends upon the worthy disciple. It is due only to his grace that we receive any tiny glimpse of his true identity, or acquire an ability to glorify him. We may not be capable, but we should keep trying anyway. There will always be difficulty in this world, but the more we remember him, the less we care about those things. We pray for the day to come when we only want to talk about Gurudeva. We pray that he becomes our favorite topic of conversation always.
Since one cannot visually experience the presence of the Supersoul, He appears before us as a liberated devotee. Such a spiritual master is none other than Krishna himself. I offer my respectful obeisances unto my spiritual master, the deliverer of the fallen souls. of your causeless mercy upon me, nevertheless that infinitesimal drop of gratitude completely fills my heart. In the year since your last VyÄ sa-pĹŤjÄ , I have been feeling repeated bursts of your mercy penetrating my stone-like heart, as well as a continuous flow seeping in from all directions and uplifting me. I have felt your mercy as a direct experience rather than a theoretical concept. It continually shelters me and not only easily saves me from great danger, but also pulls me along the devotional path in ways I could never hope to achieve in many lifetimes. I have understood in a profound way that I personally am as helpless as a baby, and that it is the glow of your affectionate gaze surrounding me that carefully protects me, cares for me, and guides me at every step, leading me towards the realm of transcendental divine love. Even though I do not know how to surrender to you and how to have strong, complete, and one-pointed faith in you, I see that your mercy is so great that you keep helping me anyway, surrounding me with different kinds of opportunities for devotional association and engaging me from multiple directions in service that is joyfully performed. When I inspect myself to find my own defects as you have instructed, I repeatedly find some of the same ones, and also discover more those that I wasn't aware of before. In some cases, I find no purchase or foothold from which I could even begin to remedy these defects myself.
I have understood that you are a master strategist and an expert doctor, and that you can easily and joyfully solve problems so complicated they would take me decades or lifetimes to unravel. I see that your calm, loving wisdom is leading everything in my life to happen at the right time as needed according to the divine plan, without any need for me to understand how with my finite mind and intellect. I pray that you please continue to grant me the inestimable privilege of being a pawn in your hands. You may move me as you like, or hold me in reserve, grant me unlooked-for capacities when you wish to engage me, and withdraw those capacities when that is what suits your plan. Regardless, to be handled by you as your own person would be the highest good fortune that can be imagined in the three worlds. I have no qualification to receive this fortune, it is completely dependent on your mercy. For no reason that I can conceive, you have given me a glimpse of your glories: the thickness and condensed heaviness of your kindness, the subtlety and gentle discretion of your expertise, the solidity and translucent purity of your integrity, the humility, and the joyful lightness of your wit. Your dealings give a new meaning to the word “trustworthy,” even as they unfold in a plane that is completely beyond our ken. Soon after that, I saw an internet webcast of program of Srila Madhusudan Maharaj and was astonished by his power and attitude. Your disciple asked me, “From where do you think he gets power?” I got mercy and soon went to India to see you – our most Revered Srila Gurudeva, and it was there that I got a direct answer for this question. When I saw you, Srila Gurudev, I got a feeling that this is the meaning purpose of my life, and it doesn’t matter if I die right now, because I experienced everything that is possible in this material life. I took Harinam initiation and felt such gratefulness that I cried whole day. For the first time I felt my real self. I am one of the luckiest persons because I have such Gurudev. It is by His grace that through his disciple, Gurudeva blessed and accepted a fallen soul like me as his disciple. Many times my mind is perplexed but also gives me insight in the great Vaishnava philosophy, which says Guru and Vaishnavas are the most merciful and munificent than Lord himself. As Srila Bhaktivinond Thakur ji has said in one of his bhajans, “ jogyatā-vicāre, kichu nāhi pāi, tomāra karuṇā-sāra,” but still, out of his causeless compassion, Gurudev bestowed mercy towards to the fallen soul like me.
Gurumaharaj says, Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu has given essence of scriptures and taught us through ‘Siksastakam’ that how all the enslaved Jivas can get the highest prema i.e Love to God. While understanding the teachings of Mahaprabhu’s ‘Siksastakam’ it gives a clear and perfect understanding that you are the perfect embodiment of 3rd verse of ‘Siksastakam’ i.e. Tṛṇād api sunīcena taror api sahiṣṇunā І amāninā mānadena kīrtanīyaḥ sadā hariḥ ІІ Gurudev, due to my ignorant nature, I am still unable to follow your instructions to me. Neither am I able to chant the holy name without offence or offer service to the Vaishnavas selflessly, but keep committing offences at their lotus feet. My heart has became a vajrasama (stone hard) unable to develop love to chant the holy name and serving attitude. Hence, I only pray at your lotus feet to make me able to chant the holy name properly. I don’t know where to start and How to pray at your lotus feet, because I am so much entangled in maya and with my anarthas, that there is no escape from it, and I don’t have any confidence and hope on my bhajan, sadhana or capability. Per your instructions and mercy, I was able to read Jaiva Dharma, and I read about various type of siddhas: nitya siddha, sadhana siddha, and kripa siddha. Since I don’t have any capability, kindly shower your causeless mercy unto me and consider kripa siddha option for me as only your mercy is only my refuge & hope, honestly. Kindly look upon this unworthy conditioned soul with mercy, as I have no qualities and am good for nothing. It is with great fortune an insignificant jiva like me has the opportunity to glorify a great soul and it must definitely due to some devotional pious activities I may have done. I am fortunate to have some association of meeting OM Vishnupada Srila Bhakti Ballabha Tirtha Maharaj and I have understood why he was dear to both his beloved spiritual master, His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhava Maharaj and His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Goswami, an affectionate godbrother. I have seen how even though in a very high position as an Present Acarya of Chaitanya Gaudiya Math he would lovingly tolerate

came to see him. Lowly people even though from foreign country was always treated with great respect according to their standing. Such humility has the power to melt even the most heard hearted people. A Vaishnava teaches by his pure example with such humility and this has a great effect to rectify fallen souls like me who wonder and repent on their fallen condition. Many a time irrespective, Srila Bhakti Vallabha Tirtha Maharaj has demonstrated such humility in front of many people to teach the ignorant masses. In all respects too, both in scholarship and spiritual knowledge, he is like a giant and very strict in following pure devotional conclusions to the letter. He has the pure character of His beloved guru and also jagad guru Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Sarawati Thakur Prabhupada. Thank you for providing opportunity to glorify Gurudev. I’ll make an attempt and hope at least I’ll be good in intention as in purpose I really doubt I have understood him enough to glorify Him. A few years before having darshan of Srila Gurudev I was associating in other Gaudiya institutions. It is when it registered inside me the dire necessity of taking shelter of a Sadguru. I started my search and it intensified over with passing time. I somehow had this strong feeling that Gurudev should be ‘Sakshad Haritvena’ i.e. Absolute or ‘As good as God’ and he can never commit any mistakes as that can cause havoc in disciples life. While I searched almost exhaustively I couldn’t get sufficient inspiration inside anywhere to surrender myself.
Many years passed and I was become hopeless and was entering in despair mood. That is when I heard about Gurudev from a devotee friend. I thought I’ll go to see him but it’ll be my last attempt. In January 2002 I travelled to Mumbai to have darshan of Gurudev. His first darshan was at Mumbai airport. For first few minutes I couldn’t feel much. However after that there was some attraction which was pulling me towards Him. Now I wanted to look at him continuously. Then we came over the place where Gurudev will stay. My next darshan was in a hall where lots of devotees were gathered. I was sitting in a far corner being new to the place and devotees. It was there where I may say I was fortunate to get ‘darshan’ of Gurudev and my to-be-Gurudev. Of whatever very very deep internal experience I was given, the outcome was that I had very strong feeling emanating from inside that ‘He is that Sakshad Haritvena!’ ‘He is the one who can never commit mistake!’. However another thing happened which put me on receiving end. Tables were turned upon me now. The question did not remain whether he fits my consideration of Guru. The question became that I am just not eligible to be his disciple. I felt it so strongly that I wanted to run away. I actually tried to escape from that hall to run far-far away. However when I was moving out my hand was caught by a devotee right when I was passing by Gurudev. He took me and introduced me to Gurudeva. This is when Gurudev looked at me first time and gave His smile. At that time I felt my life came back and I need not run away. I stayed!
And since then till now if I look I have no words to describe what I have received from Him. While these words may be often said however for my experiences with Him they always new– His affection, His compassion, His concern, His care, His magnanimity, His forgiveness and so many more leave me puzzled that what did I do to deserve them. His teachings in any form – Written, Audio or Video till date impacts my heart the most! I am having a feeling of insufficiency of what I have said. I feel very ineligible also to write about Him and also fear of any offences I may commit due to my ignorance of His actual self. May Gurudev continue gracing me as always! I have heard from a dear senior god-brother of mine that when His Divine Grace Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaja disappeared from this world, you said that everything that the pure devotee does is for the benefit of the conditioned souls. I am reflecting on that instruction as you now perform your pastimes of illness to increase our intensity to serve your lotus feet.
By performing these transcendental pastimes, you are helping us to better appreciate the nectar of each word you have spoken and written, and of your merciful glances upon us. By these transcendental pastimes, you have driven all of us to develop a heart-to-heart relationship with you that cannot be broken by the bonds of space and time. You have so kindly driven me to take shelter of so many wonderful Vaisnavas who have helped me to take shelter of you and my eternal father Srila Prabhupada as I attempt to serve you thousands of miles away. By your causeless grace I have been freed of so many painful doubts in my Krsna consciousness, and by your grace I am starting to develop some appreciation for the Vaisnavas. You have helped me to finally dedicate myself to the mission of my beloved Srila Prabhupada, and for that I am eternally grateful to you. I pray that my love for the holy names of Krsna that you have given me will increase day by day. Once during the month of May the Hyderabad City was suffering from the most severe temperature. You visited Hyderabad along with Prachar Party during that period. The moment you entered in the vicinity of Hyderabad the hottest climate changed in to the coolest. It was Your glory that we all got relieved from the heat. It was a miracle. Please accept my most humble obeisances at your lotus feet. You are a most learned, munificent and affectionate personality who captured my heart immediately upon meeting you for the first time. You are the very definition of the word, ‘humble’, as I’ve never met anyone with the lack of self-centeredness that you exhibit. You have given so much of yourself to those with interest in bhakti, with no expectation of anything in return. You have always been most affectionate to me, regardless of my lack of intelligence and multitude of deficiencies. I consider myself to be highly fortunate to have met you, despite the odds against such a thing. Who would have thought that a trip to India so many years ago would have resulted in meeting a paramahamsa like you? Even though there are many obstacles for me still to overcome on the path of devotion due to my prior conditioning and bad habits, you have taught me so much by means of your wise words and personal example. In my eyes, you are the epitome of first-class behavior and percipience. You are most eloquent and goddess Sarasvati emanates from your lips. You have given me so many beautiful memories of your exalted association, and I only need to think of your beatific smile, wisdom and wry sense of humor to maintain my sense of purpose.
While you display many gentle qualities, according to time, place and circumstance you are like a firebrand—a charismatic, powerful leader and speaker, determined to jog the minds of the sleeping jivas such as myself. You are the direct representative of Supreme Lord Krishna appearing in this world of maya to guide the conditioned souls to their actual welfare as His eternal servants. Your devotion to Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhava Gosvami Maharaja is something to behold. I remember a lecture you gave at my house on the subject of the questions of Lord Yamaraja to Maharaja Yudhisthira in the Mahabharata. After the lecture I praised you, whereupon you said that the only reason I thought it was a good lecture was because I had never met your Gurudeva. I know that you attribute everything you have to him and hold him so dearly to your heart. I’m most taken by this and I try to think in this way, as this is, possibly, your most important instruction. I am your eternal servant; I love you wholeheartedly and beseech you not to forget me even though I’m completely unworthy of your attention. Only one shiny glance from you, only one word from your lotus lips or just one momentary and divine smile filled with love and compassion - all this is able to melt even the hardest heart.
Oh, Gurudeva! Is it possible to express this overwhelming gratitude by anything of mortal world? No word, no painting and no temple will be able to deliver all my love and gratitude to you. But you know the hearts of all your disciples and followers considering them as your children, so you always care about us, protect us and forgive us as little babies.
You open the true path to the Eternal Absolute. And despite all misdeeds of your children you still open your merciful heart for everyone, you give your hand and bring us with you, back to Godhead. It is not enough for you to simply show the path, you bring as there by the hand! Every single day and especially on this blessed occasion of your holy appearance, your loving disciples and well-wishers try to give you their hearts full of love and
devotion trough letters, beautiful garlands, feasts and kirtans, dancing and describing your glory.
I do not dare to glorify you. I am not qualified. Only by the Mercy of your dear disciples I make this offering to your lotus feet with all humility and devotion that I can gather in my heart.
This humble offering of gratitude is not able to express all your glory, my most beloved, merciful and revered Srila Guruji. By your causeless mercy, you accepted me in the family giving me the shelter of your lotus feet. I do not know how many lives I was wandering throughout the universe in search of that love, truth, beauty and purity that shines from you. Now You gave me the opportunity to enter the pure path of Devotional service, the path to the eternity, knowledge and bliss.
It was enough to hear just once your transcendental voice glorifying the names of the Lord and my heart changed and all my being turned to You. By your endless and causeless mercy you gave me Harinama after one month.
