An early influence on the Studio Glass Movement in the United States, the Italian

Maestro Lino Tagliapietra continues to work and find inspiration in the cultural diversities and technological advances of the world. His work is an energetic combination of methods, ideas, and the mastery of techniques that continue to challenge him as an artist.

Certainly, the definition of what is Contemporary is always on the move — secured in the present with a beginning that, from this point, moves forward. Like time, it doesn't stop, and it doesn't come back.

As an artist, Lino has a complete mastery of technique in his medium which tends to make technique vanish, focusing instead on the beauty and mutability of the glass. Tagliapietra’s own artistic dialog with the glass is part of an evolving, artistic interchange, referencing relative contexts such as personal experiences, cultural identity, family, community, and nationality. A visit to a museum, a philosophical discussion, a book about architecture, or quilts, poetry, a dream in the night, or the excitement of developing a new technique are all seeds for the fertile imagination and creative explorations of Lino Tagliapietra.
