COMMUNITY MINDED

GOVERNORS

When two members of the on-site sales team have decided to build homes in the community, you know it must be a special place. With extraordinary amenities, beautiful homes, and a convenient location east of Coastal Highway, this community is a destination of its own. And, while you might be tempted to think of Governors as a hidden gem, it is actually a shining jewel in the heart of charming Lewes, Delaware.

Conveniently located along Gills Neck Road near downtown Lewes, Governors pairs an idyllic setting with unmatched amenities. Community Sales Manager Adam Pettengell is a self-described walking billboard for the Gills Neck corridor, having lived in the area for the past ten years. Only half joking, he attributes his love for the area to a need to be close to Agave. If you’ve dined at this posh Mexican lounge and tequila bar on 2nd Street in Lewes, you understand what he means.

Fellow sales team member, Amanda Kincaid, is also planning a move to Governors this summer. According to Amanda, the community selection was a no-brainer. Along with the convenient setting, Governors offers a variety of spectacular homesite choices— many with basements— that back to ponds, open spaces, and wooded areas. Amanda has already envisioned sitting on the deck with her husband, sipping coffee and enjoying the view.

That relaxed coastal lifestyle is exactly what draws people in. Along with offering on-site social activities, Governors is just minutes from the beaches, Cape Henlopen State Park, the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal, and downtown Lewes. Homeowners Allison and Michael League sum it up this way: “Living at Governors is the perfect balance of downtown charm, friendly people, and easy access to gorgeous coastal beaches, trails, and parks.” Something is always happening in the area, from new beer releases at the local brew pubs to events at the historical society or concerts at Stango Park. The icing on the cake is that Governors residents can come and go as they choose without having to factor in the traffic on Coastal Highway.

Adam explained that the Governors location also makes it easy to maintain that sweet equilibrium between guilty pleasures and healthy living. After all, when the Junction and Breakwater Trail runs right past your community, you can easily expend any activity needed to offset the energy intake at your favorite haunts in downtown Lewes. Likewise, Cape Henlopen State Park is both a relaxing beach playground and a challenging fitness venue filled with outdoor activities such as an 18-hole Frisbee golf course played through scenic sand dunes and trees.

Yet, there’s much more to this community’s appeal. The beautiful residences, peaceful streetscapes, and resort-style amenities live up to its stellar location. Residents Cheryl Stevens and Melvin Broadus pointed out that what really sold them on Governors was the total package provided by Schell. “We were selective about getting a well-built home and great customer service,” Cheryl explained. “Schell Brothers does not cut corners; they build a well-insulated, attractive, and solid home.”

With unparalleled access to resort-driven amenities and beach-oriented benefits that include outdoor sports, restaurants, and shopping, Governors is the perfect home base for an active lifestyle. It’s where you can bike to the beach without getting near a major highway or pedal to dinner in Rehoboth any night of the week.

Location, location, location. It’s about more than where a community is situated. It’s where it can take you. As many have discovered, at Governors you’ll enjoy the ride.
