Who is he?
Nayib Bukele was born in San Salvador, El Salvador on the 24th of July in 1981. However, has a known heritage background from Palestine from his Grandfather, since the beginning of the 20th century.
Bukele rose to fame from his political campaign bak in 2018 when he decided to run for president of El Salvador.

What does he do?
Once his political campaign became popular, he won the Presidential election.
Not to mention, he was the first president to create his very own political party; Nuevos Ideas ( New Ideas; English Translation )
It was Initally aimed towards center-left democratic, but the Supreme Electoral court forced him to do center-right
Once in office, June 1st, 2019 as the New Salvadoran President his first tasks were to
- Implement and Enforce laws
- Veto or Accpet new Bills
- Represent our nations
Most importantly in this discussion was how he, as the new President, was going to handle the extreme gang violence in the country. In which was mass incarceration of those associated or been previously associated with gang violence.

Why Does he matter?
It’s Known to many that the most famous gang affiliations come from El Salvador, most notably MS13 & Barrio 18. The country was put in a situation where most gangs would control a certain population & community for their own personal gains. Whethre that was for money, health and power. Many individuals had no choice but to join these gangs in order to survive and avoid any crossfire from others who tried to capture any form of power. The country has been in turmoil for years since these gangs do not allow civilians to live normal life.
However since Bukele became President, his efforts in Stopping gangs have been a tremendous change to the country, by decreasing over 50% of the murder rate during his first year in office. His immediate creation of the Territorial Control Plan helped and countines to help certain areas of hte country in an effort to combat high crimes rates and gangs in the country.
The civil police and Armed forces of El Salvador are now better equipped with firearms, vests, and education to combat the massive homicides these gangs create.

My Personal Experience
Seeing my country and my own community fall apart because of these gangs were so heart-breaking, to the point that my own hometown village was filled with gang violence.
Though when he got into office, he finally took action and brought justice to my people, my country and myself.
5
Why does he deserve a monument?
Bringing justice to a country that desperately needed it deserve a monument. Finally being the first president to take action aganist the gang violence has been something inspirational to many, including myself.
6
Where would we put his monument?
If we were to put his monument anywhere in the world, it would most be approaite to put in the captial of El Salvador. San Salvador, El Salvador. The reason why we need to put him there is one, his origin of birth, and his contribution to the country as a whole.
7
Where would we put him at mason ?
If we were to put a monument of Bukele at mason, I would place it in Arlington, Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter’s conflict and resultion center. The reason behind this choice was because of the fact that the building mainly works with criminolgy and figures out solutions to conflicts around the world. Placing a leader who has finally taken action aganist a massive problem, deserve regonition

The Effects of the monument in Salvador
Having a monument of a president that has created a nustice system, peace and freedom will empower citizens to stand up for what is right. Not mention increase voting obligations from citizens to choose for a president they believe is good for the country. A president that will lead the country in the right direction, a President like Bukele

The effects of the Monument in Arlingtion
I believe having a monument of anyone who has come up with a resolution after a massive conflict deserves to have a monument at the Jimmy and Rosaylnn Carter’s building. Bukele fits that description perfectly, he tackles on the gang violence issues head on and finds out a way to bring peace to the country that has been long over-due.
Also to mention those who are hispanic heritage, and even better, Salavdoran background will feel honored to have someone represent their country. For those who many not know him, will still be interested and search up his work online and understand why there is a monument for him.

Statistics of Bukele
43,500 + imprisoned
As of March 16th, 2023, 66,000 people accused of having gang affiliations have been arrested
