Parental Survey Responses 2013 We had 29 respondents, 2 of them electronic, 27 manual Your Child 100% of respondents felt that their child was happy at school. Over 93% said that they felt safe, made good progress were well looked after and were taught well.

No families reported concerns about pupils’ behaviour and 96% believed that the school dealt effectively with bullying.

Homework 67% of families reported that their child did not receive homework.

Comment This is an area that requires further investigation. It is unclear from this whether parents would like pupils to receive homework and if so what kind of homework parents feel that their children need.

Leadership and Management 93% of respondents felt that the school was well led and managed.

Comment We would like to thank parents for their positive responses to this. We will always welcome any comments or suggestions that parents may have to make things even better.

Information about School The overwhelming majority of you felt that the information gained from our Newsletter was just right and that they were easy to understand. Most people prefer 2 Newsletters a term and over 93% prefer to receive paper copies rather than through the website.

Comment This is a very positive response and we thank parents for their positive comments. We will always welcome any suggestions that parents may have for content of Newsletters.

Information from School 93% of those responding use a home/school diary, with the majority being filled in by the class teacher daily. 92% said that they themselves communicated using the diary three or more times a week and all respondents were happy with this method of home/school communication.

Website Over 60% of you use our website and are happy with the content.

Comment We have had very positive comments from parents who do use the website. We may need to

explore ways in which to encourage a greater number of parents to access the website.

Annual Reviews 92% of you felt that the amount of information in the annual review/report was about the right amount and everyone thought that they were easy to read.

92% of respondents were able to attend their child’s annual review and the information given in the meeting was about the right amount. Everyone felt that the discussion was easy to follow.

Last year we trialed a person centred review format for students in Gold class. Feedback from professionals was positive but only one respondent commented through the survey to parents, they felt that the format was excellent.

Comment Person centred reviews to be extended to a greater number of classes.

Keeping you Informed A large majority of you did not want us to provide more events and meetings in school than we currently do.

Less than 42% of you felt you knew a great deal about what happened in school. 48% felt that you knew a moderate amount and 11%, very little.

The majority of you, 85%, felt that we dealt with complaints or problems well.

We asked if you knew of any services that we had improved and only a few of those that responded felt that they did.

Comment The new website enables class staff to post photographs and news of things happening in different classes. The website also has a lot of information about events in school. We perhaps need to explore what kind of information parents would like and the best way to disseminate this information.

General Comments A number of parents asked us to reinstate Parents’ Evening and a chance to meet their class teacher at the beginning of the year. This term we held a Meet the Teacher Coffee Morning alongside fundraising for Macmillan.

Comment A ‘Meet the Teacher’ morning was organised at the beginning of term.

We now need to explore and re-introduce a Parents’ Evening at the end of the school year.
