St. Michael’s CE Junior School, Church Lane East, Aldershot, GU11 3SS Tel: 01252 322933

Dear Prospective Candidate, Thank-you for expressing an interest in becoming a teacher at St. Michael’s; I would urge you to visit the school if you have not yet done so to get a feel for our ethos and to see creative learning at firsthand. As you can see from the photograph, St Michael’s is situated on a beautiful 7 acre site on the edge of Aldershot which includes a large playground and a wonderful field which plays host to sporting events as well as outside learning The school is maintained by the Education Department of Hampshire County Council. It is a Church of England Controlled Junior School, within the diocese of Guildford. Currently and there are 374 children on roll and there is capacity for 386. Children are aged between seven and eleven years of age and from a variety of ethnic cultures. The environment surrounding the school is a rich source of historical and geographical information; the Hogs Back is a stone’s throw from school with the Tudor town of Farnham just 3 miles from our doorstep and of course, Aldershot itself is of great Victorian and military interest. The school works within a network of other schools in Rushmoor and is also part of the Connaught Secondary School Pyramid. St. Michael’s Infant School’s site is adjoining our own and we often have joint events. Should you decide to apply for the class teacher’s post, I would be delighted to receive your application no later than noon on 16 May 2014. Interviews will take place week commencing 19 May 2014 and will include a teaching and learning observation; a short 5 minute presentation and a formal interview. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office and ask to speak to me.

Yours sincerely,

Lynne Hignett Headteacher
