20 March 2014

Dear Parent/Carer(s), We have been trialling a system of monitoring the behaviour of our pupils during lunchtimes, to ensure that the children benefit from a happy and trouble free play environment. We are now rolling out the system to all play periods and are writing to inform you of the process. During play periods if a child is involved in unbecoming behaviour, such as spitting, violent or abusive conduct, they will firstly receive a warning and if the behaviour persists, issued with a red slip. Parents will be informed by text that such a slip has been issued and what it has been issued for. The child will then complete a lunchtime detention, conducted by a teacher or member of the SLT, to reflect on their behaviour. We hope that this process of reflection will help the children understand the boundaries that operate in the playground environment. If you have any queries or concerns about the process then please do not hesitate to contact us. If you wish to discuss your own child’s behaviour, perhaps after having a red slip issued, then we would ask you to book an appointment with your child’s classroom teacher to discuss this. Yours sincerely

Mrs L Hignett Headteacher
