Can My Child Go To St George’s?

St GeorgeÊs School is „Outstanding‰ The school has developed massively and literally doubled both its buildings and its roll. Standing now at 976 students St George’s is able to provide real options both for Blackpool parents and those in the Fylde. Since last year the normal admissions criteria which focus on the Marton parishes of St Paul’s, St Wilfrid’s, St Nicholas’ and St Christopher’s have been extended to accommodate children from Christian families. This means that children whose parents worship in Blackpool or the Fylde can have a closer faith school option open to them.

Examination results overall have been extremely positive with the school breaking its previous best E/M+3 and 5A*-C Percentages. The hard work, dedication and relentless focus on success has paid off and placed us in our best Blackpool ranking.

There are two ways.

For each you should complete an Admissions Form (for Blackpool or Lancashire) and making St George’s your first choice is best.

180 Open Places are for: 1) Children who live in the Parishes of:  St Paul’s, Marton  St Nicholas’ with St Christopher’s  St Wilfrid’s And all children educated at Baines Endowed or St Nicholas’ C of E Primary School then: 2) Children who have a brother or sister at St George’s School (at the time of admission) then 3) Children who have been in a Church of England Primary School for the last 2 years

20 Foundation Places are for: 1) Children whose families worship in any Anglican or Methodist Church in the Deanery of Blackpool then: 2) Children whose families worship in any of the churches named at the bottom of this page in the following:  St Luke’s Parish (Staining)  Heyhouses (St Annes)  St Margaret of Antioch (St Annes)  St Thomas (St Annes)  St Nicholas (Ribby with Wrea)  St Michael (Weeton)  St Paul’s (Ansdell)  St John’s (Lytham)  St Cuthberts (Lytham)

The summer examination results have seen us realign ourselves on the upward trajectory that started in 2008. In measurable performance indicators we have shown a continued trend of improvement over a period of years. We are now in the best placed position for on-going success in the history of St George’s School.

We have continued to invest heavily in the school site. The past twelve months have seen major investment in existing spaces whilst creating new teaching and learning areas, culminating in the opening of our new Learning Hub earlier this year.

We are extremely proud of our Pastoral Care. We have recently increased the number of college groups and introduced a new college System, bringing together students from across all five year groups into one of five colleges.
