Dear Parent/Guardian, I would like to take the opportunity of thanking you all for assisting us in achieving a most successful start to this academic year. The vast majority of our students have made an impeccable start to their studies and are attending the Academy punctually and immaculately presented. There is much research to suggest that students who are well presented and equipped for learning, make better progress as a result. Such an impact has already been noted by staff, students, parents and visitors in a very short space of time. I and all of the staff at the Academy would like to thank everyone for their messages of support and affirmation of our approach to improving the education and life chances of your child. I would like to reassure everyone that we are well aware of the geographical position of the Academy and we are determined to further enhance its reputation as an area of increasingly high aspirations and excellent standards of education. We will not be deterred from achieving this as part of the Academy’s vision and we have been overwhelmed by the support our parents and wider community have demonstrated over this past week. The Academy recognises and accepts that the education it provides requires improvement, and has done for some time. However, it is also right and proper to recognise that there have been many individual student successes over the years that we should be very proud of and have justly celebrated. In partnership with our sponsors, ECMAT and our very active Governing Body, we have already taken steps to strengthen the leadership of the Academy and started work on strengthening the standards of teaching, learning, behaviour and student outcomes. There are some very talented staff and students in our academy and I am sure we can count on their expertise and enthusiasm alike in assisting the change process and realising the high aspirations and expectations that we have of everyone. Our vision is for the ACE academy to become the ‘academy of choice’ for the Tipton community and surrounding areas, where students experience ‘education without limits’ and are inspired to achieve beyond their expectations. We will be an outstanding place of learning and we will celebrate and experience success through the achievements of our students and staff, resulting in a legacy of excellence through every single person striving to be ‘the best that they can be’ every day. The Academy will therefore, prepare young people to play an active part in a technologically mature society by providing them with exceptional knowledge, skills, attitudes and moral purpose to significantly contribute to our global society and experience 70+ fantastic years. No one person or organisation can effect the extent of change that we are set on achieving without recognising that we require the support of all of our stakeholders. I would like to take this opportunity to unashamedly ask for that support from you. Parents, staff, students, governors, sponsors and the wider community will need to develop a constructive working relationship where positive challenge and support allows everyone to work towards the goal of bettering our students’ outcomes. What more reason do we need? If every decision we make is within the values of improving our students’ education and resulting life chances we will not go far wrong.
