Dear Parents, As part of our next topic ‘Hugo’ based on the book Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick, Year 6 will be exploring Shadow Theatre, with the aim of creating our own contemporary shadow theatre performance. More about this topic is to follow. To inspire us, we are very lucky to have the Indigo Moon Theatre Company visiting from Yorkshire, on Friday 17th October. In the morning, they will be performing their shadow puppet show of Jungle Book. “Fearless and free, Mowgli the ' man-cub ' finds fun and friendship despite learning to live by the Law of the Jungle. Mowgli's daring adventures in the dangerous world he inhabits, are brought to life by Indigo Moon Theatre with inventive shadow theatre, original music and colourful digital projection.” In the afternoon, the children will take part in a workshop to: • Learn basic principles of shadow and light in a fun, visual and very memorable way. • Explore techniques of light and shadow. • Discover how a simple everyday object can transform into a scene from a film, or how their own bodies might transform into a lumbering giant with a new head. • Experiment with the use of different and multiple light sources, corridors of light and assorted colours. • Uncover what goes on behind the scenes and see how it is all done. • Inspire our own creative project The cost of the show and workshop is £3 per child and if possible should be paid by Friday 17th October.
