How to support your child’s learning at home Please ensure that your child reads for at least 10 minutes every night, and records what they have read in their reading record.

Homework Year 5 children are given learning log homework every Friday to be handed in the following week. It’s best to spread the work out through the week rather than do it all in one go. It must be completed to an acceptable standard. Maths homework will be given on a Wednesday and will be due in on a Friday. There will usually be a maths task, spellings to learn and a Literacy or Creative Curriculum activity.

All year 5 children are expected to know their tables to 12x12 and associated division facts off by heart by now. Tables need to be practised regularly so they are not forgotten. This is so important because rapid recall of tables means they will be able to apply the knowledge to more complex calculations.

Parent’s Evening Workshops will be held on Monday 13th October.

Mr Smith runs a drop in homework club on Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes for children who would like some help with their work.
