Maths:
In Maths this half term, we will start learning all about multiplication and division. We will be using concrete resources and pictures to help us as we tackle this brand new topic! We will then begin to explore the concept of Fractions. The children will learn about halves and quarters of different shapes and objects. We will then continue our Place Value learning, by exploring the number range between 0100. We will practise finding one more and one less of numbers, represent numbers using objects and pictures and also count forwards and backwards from a range of starting points!
Through our Number Ninja passports, we will continue refining our arithmetic skills and focus on our number bonds to 10, 20 and 100 in our passport tests.
Music:
In music the children will be learning 'You are my sunshine'. Children will learn how to sing and improvise to 'You Are My Sunshine' and will then improvise and compose using the ukuleles.
English:
This half term we will be enjoying the book ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. Jack and the Beanstalk is a traditional tale about a boy and his Mother, and how 5 magic beans changed their life forever! The children will be writing to inform this half term and will focus on writing instructions, before writing their own section of the story.

Computing:
Science:
In Science this half term, our topic will be Plants. We will identify and name a variety of common wild and garden plants, including deciduous and evergreen trees. We will identify and describe the basic structure of a variety of common flowering plants, while we observe the growth of plants in class, and make observations about how plants change over time.
Our Computing lessons this half-term will be based in the classroom. We will be learning all about a beebots and will make videos teaching others how to use them too!
Geography:
In Geography we will be focussing on the question 'What is the weather like in the UK?'. We will learn about weather, recording weather, seasons, compass directions, countries in the UK, and how weather can be different in different places.
Art & Design and Design Technology:
This half term, the children will be focusing on Design Technology. They will be learning about moving pictures and creating their very own Jack and the Beanstalk story books, with moving pictures. The children will explore different ways to incorporate moving parts into picture books by looking at a wide range of texts, before designing and making their own to share with their buddy classes.
PSHE:
The focus for this half term will be 'our world'.
We will be looking at how we grow and change in our world, focussing on how we have changed from being babies to now, and how we will change in the future, becoming more independent and responsible.
History
This area of the curriculum is taught in Autumn 1, Spring 1 and Summer 2.
RE:
In RE this half-term, our key question will be ‘What does it mean to belong?'. We will begin by looking at groups that we belong to, before discussing how people belong to different religions and what this means to them.
PE
In PE we will be focussing on invasion games and striking and fielding. We will develop skills using a ball and will develop coordination through striking.
