Year 1 & 2 Class Assembly –
message from Mrs Eaton
Thank you for joining us for our assembly! We have had a fantastic time sharing our learning with you. From performing Ning Nang Nong, writing nonsense poems, and exploring portraits in art, to investigating electrical circuits on our science trip and practising gymnastics balances, we have been very busy! We hope you enjoyed watching as much as we enjoyed presenting. Thank you for coming and supporting us!
Football
On Friday last week, 10 boys from Year 4-6 represented Earith Primary School at the YDP Cambridge Cup in Ramsey. After a difficult first game in the group stage, the team pulled it back to win their next two matches (by way of a free kick rocket from our own half and a last second diving header) to top the group and progress to the knockout round. Unfortunately, we came up against a very well-drilled Swavesey side and our cup run ended. Nevertheless, the boys that took part should be incredibly proud of themselves. They worked incredibly hard as a team, communicated brilliantly, supported each other and, most importantly, represented the school excellently with smiles on their faces.

World Maths Day
We booked our World Maths Day 8 months ago. Worldwide, the date changed in-year (to the 26th March). We will honour our planned World Maths Day on Monday. And what a treat you’re in for children! A solid day of maths – what could be more fun?
Easter Antics:
Egg Decorating: 1st April

You know the ‘crack’ by now (sorry!), and if you’re new to the school this year – here it is: send your child in with a hard-boiled egg on the 1st April (no joke yolk!...reference to April Fool’s Day). Ideally, contained, otherwise school gets tremendously smelly. During the PM, we provide all the paraphernalia. Children decorate. We judge. FOES prizes.
Egg Rolling Competition: 2nd April
Nothing parents need to do. Internal egg-rolling competition, class-by-class, then the final, represented by a child from each class. Who will be crowned this year’s winner?
Egg Hunt: 4th April
Collect your child after school and start hunting around the grounds for paper eggs. Whether you find 1, or 101…or none (!), every child gets a chocolate egg from FOES as they leave the gates for the Easter holidays. Further information to come.

Antony Highlights:
This week, the children in Antony Class have been learning about the traditions and ceremonies that take place during a coronation. As part of their learning, they created their own crowns and even took part in a fun role-playing activity, where they held their own coronation. It was a fantastic way to engage with history while sparking creativity and imagination.

Wenzel Highlights:
Wenzel Class' blossoming oracy skills have been evident across the week. The children always come up with super ideas in our KS1 debating assemblies and, once again, were able to say whether pen or pencil is better, using full sentences and giving reasons. In our first History lesson about the Romans and their conquest of Ancient Britain, one of the children asked the question 'were they good or bad?' and it was lovely to see how the children were reasoning aloud as to what they currently thought. By the end of the lesson, some had changed their minds... we'll see how next week's learning shapes opinions further! Finally, the children have practised speaking loudly and clearly as they rehearse for their class assembly.
Larwood Highlights:
In Larwood Class this week, we have loved finding out about the assassination of Julius Caesardiscovering how his peers plotted against him was both gory and glorious! Another highlight has been our new class text, The Wind in the Willows. Children have enjoyed meeting the flamboyant and easily-distracted Toad, and can't wait to see where his energy takes us next.
Rauf Highlights:
This week, children participated in an engaging Future Fens workshop, stepping into the roles of farmers, ecologists, town planners, and business managers. Working collaboratively, they discussed solutions for projects in the Fens. This involved them having to debate their ideas, adapt their original plans and ensure their ideas were sustainable. It was lovely to step back and watch their teamwork and problem-solving skills in action. Please see photos HERE
