Is Medical Science for you? You must have achieved 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including at least a grade C in a GCSE Science subject or BTEC First (Merit level) in a Science related area. You also must have achieved at least a grade C in GCSE Maths You want to develop the skills and learn the background knowledge useful for employment in the Medical Services industry You want to enhance your knowledge and understanding of Science while also gaining confidence in your own abilities through the practical aspects of the course
You will study general Applied Science units in the first year. These cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Applied Science (Medical) can be studied as a Subsidiary Diploma (equivalent of 1 A Level) over one year or as a Diploma (equivalent of 2 A Levels) over two years. An Applied Science BTEC is also available covering only the Applied Science units and can be studied as a Certificate (equivalent to 1 AS Level) over one year or as a Subsidiary Diploma (equivalent to 1 A Level) over two years.
