Frome’s ‘Light the Night’ organisation is led by local artists Mel Day and Aliss Vass. They have been running the Frome Lantern Parade since 2017, supported by Frome Town Council. This week our Yr 8 pupils took part in a workshop at the Academy. This year’s parade theme is ‘Woodland Wildlife’ and our pupils made beautiful fallow deer. It was such a lovely day—our visitors commented on how polite and mature our pupils are.
The workshop had a high level of creativity and engagement I am sure that the parade of deer will look spectacular. Please come to the centre of Frome on the 22nd November to see our pupils represent Oakfield Academy. For more information https// www.discoverfrome.co.uk
Special thanks to former staff

We are delighted to inform you that we have been contacted by Somerset County Council regarding plans to install a crossing in the vicinity of Somerset Road. The scheme has been developed with colleagues at Sustrans and will see the delivery of a parallel crossing (for use by both pedestrians and cyclists) and supporting the infrastructure including footway improvements, traffic calming in the form of road humps, and extending the 20mph zone, road markings and lining.
A plan of the scheme is available at the web address below:http://www.somerset.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/small-improvement-schemes-directory
Special thanks to our wonderful Library Team who helped with the recent very successful Cake Sale.
