The school day
Gates into school grounds open 8.35am and the school day starts at 8:45am.
Children are greeted at the gate into the Reception outdoor area from 8.35am.
Children are encouraged to walk to the classroom independently where they are greeted by Miss Taylor.
Hang coats on their pegs and put book bags into their trays ready to join the class on the carpet for registration
Then their learning begins……..
We can have a morning snack if we choose to…….
Lunchtimes….
Carol makes our dinners….
In the afternoon we get fruit….
EYFS – Early Years Foundation Stage

Buddies
• Reception children are paired with a Year 6 Buddy
• Before your child starts school, they will receive a letter from one of our current Y5 students introducing themselves and welcome them to our school
• Your child’s buddy will look out for their buddy throughout the year and play with them at playtimes, lunchtimes and spend time with them in other activities throughout the year.
• They will meet their buddy at our Teddy Bears’ Picnic in the summer term on Thursday 3 July 2025 at 2pm.
• We use Seesaw to communicate with parents with regards your child’s learning journey in Reception, as well as using it to keep you up to date with any notices or information you may need to be aware of.
Transition Week
We would like your child to join us for a number of mornings from 9.30am11.30am during the week commencing Monday 30 June 2024 to spend time in their new class, getting to know their new friends, teachers and buddies.
How you can help……
• Talk to your child about starting school
• Encourage them to be independent.. for example, tidying away their toys
• Practise their pencil grip and ensure your child can hold a pencil properly, using the tripod grip
• Ensure your child can get dressed independently and do up zips, buttons etc.
• Help your child to count to 10, as well as count objects independently.
• Encourage your child to begin writing their name before starting
