– Work is being adapted daily to meet needs
– Working towards the children getting into routines
– Some recap of the EYFS Curriculum within Autumn 1
– Helping the children to settle by still having continuous provision
– This half term PE will be on a Thursday and Friday. Please can earrings be taken out or covered with plasters and come into school with their PE kits on.
– Forest School will be on Tuesday.
– Please bring reading books daily. Staff will collect books in on a Thursday and new books will be sent out on a Friday.
– Spelling will start next week. These are given weekly and children are tested every Friday within school.
– Instead of collecting money in we have now set up a ParentPay system. If you would like some guidance on how to set this up, you can find this on the school website under ‘Parent’s’ , ‘ParentPay video’.
– Daily class phonics lessons.
– Phonics screening check will take place in Summer 2 2025
– Our phonics scheme is Little Wandle Children will learn:
– ways to correctly say phonemes (sounds).
– to blend sounds within words to help them read unfamiliar words.
– to write graphemes in order to help them to spell words accurately.
– to spell tricky words correctly

– We will carry out guided reading sessions three times a week.
– During our guided reading sessions your child will begin by decoding the phonemes in their book, in the second session we focus on prosody and in the third session we focus on comprehension and fluency.
– Your child will keep the same book for the week to show you how much they have learned. This book will be changed each week.
– Nelson handwriting practise each week.
– Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar will be embedded into English lessons and taught in focused sessions.
– High Frequency Words/ Common Exception words
– Writing daily across different subjects.
– We teach White Rose Maths and Active maths
– Counting in patterns of 2, 5, 10 moving onto times tables.
– Number bonds to 10/20
– We are looking at having our first parent/teacher meetings in November.
– This will be from 3:30-6:00pm
