Entrepreneurs’ Forum III Wednesday 29th June 2016 Music School P u rc e l l Ro o m

Welcome to the third Headington School Entrepreneurs’ Forum

Annabel Warr Shamin Durrani Keynote Speaker Shamin is a British female entrepreneur of Afghan origin. With nothing but a dream, she began her entrepreneurial journey. Not only did Shamin battle for success just as any successful entrepreneur will admit but she excelled in male dominated industries (Construction & Property Development Services, Eco Sustainable Green Homes, LED Lighting: Swiftcornerstone.com). Accolades such as ‘Business Person of The Year’ cement the recognition of her success. With a significant amount of entrepreneurial experience under her belt she now aims to give back to those that are starting their journey in the exciting world of business through the medium of motivational speaking. This latest move into motivational speaking has not deterred Shamin with her business pursuits as she has started work on creating a new healthy eating business.

Annabel’s career experience spans the business, public and charity sectors. After graduating with a degree in Social Policy and Planning from the University of Bristol, Annabel joined the graduate scheme with the Metropolitan Police Civil Staff as an Executive Officer. After nearly three years in the public sector, she transitioned into the business world with the investment bank Morgan Stanley for nine years, latterly as a Vice President in Operations. Annabel has always advocated the use of skills and time to support social causes and has gained a wide variety of charity volunteer experience during her time as a student and alongside her subsequent professional career. Whilst taking a career break to raise her young family, she applied her professional skills and experience at a strategic level as a charity trustee. This experience became the driver behind Annabel’s social business, Encore Futures, which she founded in 2012 to support cross-sector skills development between experienced business professionals and charities. Alongside her work with Encore Futures, Annabel is also a director of the strategic marketing consultancy, Eyebright.

We are fortunate that we have some excellent entrepreneurs and leaders within our Headington Community, five of whom have kindly agreed to help facilitate our programme today.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” - Steve Jobs To get the most out of the day, it is important that you contribute your energy, thoughts and ideas to the discussions. Remember, no idea or suggestion is off-limits!
