The Gift of Green

Page 1

The Gift of Green Give some tree the gift of green again. Let one bird sing. May its melody strain the air sweet, And waft away, along with a soft zephyr, to share hope. For sometimes, nothing helps heavy hearts overcome troubled times, And walk into wonder like everyday miracles do: A full bloom parting with fragrance. The pearl prelude of dewdrops at the edges of leaves. The love of a branch bowing low, With the weight of its own flowers. Time etching its footprints on the bark of a tree, A passing one can grasp only when one pays attention. An abandoned nest full of nostalgia of rested wings, Aching with a feather trembling between its twigs. The line of ants crawling on boughs, Gently burdening your thoughts with their sublime mysteries. There is all this love to throb with for this world. Before everything vanishes into the ether of it all, Because the everyday miracles always help us heal, Give something back when there is still time. Some revolutions are quiet, unassuming. Give some tree the gift of green again. Let one bird sing. ~
