Safeguarding Children With Disabilities Monday 15 October 2012, 9.30am-4pm Cost: £50 Venue: Central Brighton This course is for those who are involved with working with children and young people (2-25 years) with disabilities and who want to increase their awareness in this area. It is also a suitable alternative for anyone undertaking their best-practice three-year safeguarding update.
During this course you will:
be able to identify the factors that cause children and young people with disabilities to be more vulnerable to harm
have gained an understanding of the legal context within safeguarding
have explored the safeguarding needs of children and young people with disabilities
be able to recognise the attitudes and assumptions that can exist in relation to children with disabilities when investigating abuse and neglect
be able to identify differing methods of communicating effectively with children and young people with disabilities
