CRB is changing  On 1 December 2012, the CRB is merging with the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA).  Our new name will be the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).  We are rebranding all of our documents and changing our logo.

The DBS logo is protected by Crown Copyright, the copying and use of the DBS logo is not permitted without prior approval of the DBS. 4


About the DBS  DBS was established under the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012.  DBS is an Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Home Office.  DBS becomes operational on 1 December 2012.

Key dates when you will start to see changes • Application form orders received from 12 November 2012 will be supplied with DBS application forms. • You can continue to use your current stock of CRB application forms until 28 February 2013. • DBS certificates will be issued for all completed checks from 1 December 2012. • From 1 March 2013, only DBS application forms received will be processed. 6


Some things will not change  All of our current services will continue and will be delivered with our new name and logo.  CRB certificates will continue to remain valid.  Your ordering pattern for application forms please continue to order your regular quantities as we‟ll process CRB forms right up to 28 February 2013.  Your registration details will transfer automatically to DBS.  Our contact details will not change. 7


And some things are changing We will be changing terminology and rebranding all documents with the DBS logo including: • Certificate • Application form and continuation sheet • Stationery, websites and all customer information.

Changes to the Certificate  The logo has changed to DBS.  DBS Certificates will be issued for all checks completed from 1 December 2012.  We‟ve replaced some of the language with DBS terms such as, DBS Children‟s Barred List information and DBS Adults‟ Barred List information.

Changes to the application form  The logo has changed to DBS.  Completing the form is mostly the same:  we‟ve removed references to CRB, ISA and used some new DBS terms  some questions have been amended slightly

Questions that have changed on the application form a28 – a29. Do you have an ISA registration number?  These questions now read „not used‟. d50 – d54. Applying for registration with ISA.  These questions now read „not used‟. x60. Apply for a CRB check .  This question now reads „not used‟. x64 – x66. Are you entitled to know whether the applicant is registered to work with children or adults?  These changes use revised terminology „registered to work with‟ has been replaced with „barred from working with‟; the term „vulnerable‟ has been removed in relation to adults. 12


Continuation sheet  The logo has changed to DBS.  Completing the form is exactly the same. The DBS continuation sheet is available from 12 November in PDF format for customers to download from www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crbischanging (English & Welsh versions available) 13


Other changes you will see  Stationery and forms will show the DBS logo.  CRB News will be renamed DBS News.  From 1 December, our website homepage will be www.homeoffice.gov.uk/dbs  CRB and DBS email addresses will work simultaneously from 1 December 2012. GOV.UK will replace websites Business Link and DirectGov.
