Safeguarding and Child Protection Wednesday 6 March 2013 Cost: £50 (£40 earlybird)

This one day course covers safeguarding issues relating to all age groups (zero to 18). Participants will gain an understanding of their role in establishing a safe environment and safe working practices in protecting children and young people from harm and abuse. The course will look at identifying signs that a child might be at risk and responding to keep the child and themselves safe. It will also cover background information about the law and child protection. This course is for all staff and volunteers who work with or have contact with children. By the end of this course you will have a basic understanding of:
the need to safeguard the children and young people you are working with
how to identify issues of concern and take appropriate action
process to ensure safe working practices for staff
knowledge of legislation related to safeguarding and child protection
