About Safety Net Safety Net is a local child safety charity. We have been operating in the south east since 1995 and our aim is to promote safety and well-being for children, young people and families at home, school and in their communities. We run a range of projects including family support, parenting programmes, a home safety equipment scheme, bullying and well-being projects for children, safeguarding and child protection training and a DBS (formerly CRB) checking service. We use the Protective Behaviours process as an underpinning principle of our work and provide training, group work and consultancy on how to implement the approach.

What is Protective Behaviours? Protective Behaviours is a personal safety and life skills process that teaches the ability to recognise and deal with situations in which we don't feel safe. It can be used as both an abuse prevention strategy and to address situations such as feeling worried or bullied, as well as promoting good citizenship. This course teaches an ability to recognise when we are not feeling safe and provides skills and tools to enable individuals to take action and get help when they need it. It also recognises that life is about taking risks and trying new things and that this is part of our personal development and an important life skill.
