Listen to Us! Practical skills and techniques for involving children and young people in your work

A one day training course for all those working with children and young people who want to learn practical and fun techniques to increase young people’s involvement in your organisation. Expect a fun and interactive day, with the chance to ask the participation worker and the children themselves about how best to involve young people, and tried and tested methods for getting decision makers to listen to their views and opinions. Topics covered include: why we need to listen to young people; using art to explore views and opinions; how to make the most of multi visual and video to increase participation; and benefits of participation to you and your organisation. The training will be co-delivered by young people from the Longhilll Safety Squad who have co-designed the training session.
By the end of the course learners will be able to:
Describe how they can create a safe space where children and young people feel happy to participate
Identify the possible impact and consequences of giving a children a voice on them as individuals, their family, school and the wider community
Identify how children and young people can be meaningfully involved in decision making and follow up action taken
