Renowned Finnish composer Lotta Wennäkoski will lead a 3-day collaborative composition course, showcasing her innovative compositional style and supporting participants in creating new works inspired by her piece Verdigris. What’s involved? • Volunteer with the SCO marketing department to learn practical aspects of the job. • Create links with university websites, publications and student radio to ensure SCO concerts are advertised on their news feeds. • Distribute posters and print around campus. • Organise student events and drink receptions at concerts. • Spread the word about SCO student ticket offers.

SCO Connect, the Orchestra’s creative learning team, runs a wide-ranging, interactive programme for people of all ages and abilities. We are looking for students to help deliver our projects while gaining hands-on experience of working with the SCO in a variety of contexts. As a volunteer, there are opportunities to attend in-house training sessions and play an active role supporting both musicians and project managers. If you’re motivated, pro-active and enjoy using your initiative – we would love to hear from you. Choral Scholarships We are looking for talented, young singers aged between 18 and 23 who are keen to pursue a singing career at the highest level.
The aim of this unique Scholarship Programme is to provide an opportunity for up to four singers, aged 18-23, who would like to develop their musicianship and choral singing with one of the country’s finest orchestral choruses.
The scholarship award, in return for committing to a full season of rehearsals and concerts, will be £1,000. The award will be paid in four instalments of £250 on satisfactory fulfilment of the conditions of the scholarship.
The choral scholars will receive all benefits of being a member of the SCO Chorus including free membership, free music, half-price SCO concert tickets, 10% off SCO recordings and regular vocal and language coaching. Additionally, over the course of the 2015/16 Season, exclusive coaching sessions with vocal coach Patricia MacMahon and visiting artists will be offered, and singers may have the opportunity to give a solo recital. They will also receive advice and mentoring from the SCO Chorus’ artistic team.

Shortlisted candidates will be expected to attend an audition which will last around 20 minutes on Tuesday 6 October 2015.
