As women, most of us naturally believe that we can “fix it,” that we somehow have control over the outcome of others’ lives. Those of us with this affliction tend to attract what’s called “energy vampires.”. Energy vamps are those people who adopt a self-victimizing mindset, complaining about whatever happens. When faced with a problem, they soak themselves in the issue rather than deal with it constructively. Release the need to save those individuals, it’s fruitless, and they will leave you drained, tired and lethargic. Help those in need that are trying to help themselves or those who are unable to care for themselves such as our elderly, handicapped, or animals. You will know the difference by how you feel when helping. If it’s draining your energy, leave it alone. If it feels good and rewarding go for it. Every one has his/hertheir own journey and lessons to learn. Sometimes when we come charging in to save the day,; we are interfering with their lessons/growth. Unfortunately most people struggle with A&D for years, or all their lives without learning how to effectively take steps to cope with or eliminate A&D altogether. I suffered for several years with A&D and tried many things to cope, however I always knew that the answer for relieving my A&D was not in a pill or other methods people choose to cope. Disclaimer: I absolutely recommend that everyone suffering with A&D seek professional help to get diagnosed. There are several types of depression, some of which that require medication and monitoring. I was able to eliminate my A&D using the resources listed in the Resource section of this eBook. It was a journey to find out what worked for me but it has been 100% worth it. My life changed during the journey as I learned about Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and the Midwest Center for A&D.

I know how difficult it is to break out of the cocoon of A&D but I encourage you to not give up. Make an attempt to get still (quiet the mind) for a few moments each day, several times a day. Seek professional help for diagnosis and consider methods of treatment and of course, make an effort to Release Reconnect and Renew daily.

Image and words by Mara Friedman www.newmoonvisions.com Walking through the remains of Tuzigoot (Apache for 'crooked water'), I felt the Spirits of the ancestors, smelled the breath of the earthen dwellings, and gave thanks for the wide open sky above, cradling us all in the arms of creation. This day, in order to anchor ourselves, to be fully open to the journey ahead, we were asked to find a quiet space, to open our hearts, to ask for permission to be on these sacred lands, and also ... to be present, fully present, in order to receive our confirmation. It was empowering and peace-full to sit, to listen, and release in order to receive. I breathed into my heart, imagining my essence growing beyond the boundaries of NOW into the timelessness of creation, to connect every filament of Light within me and receive the wisdom of those who came before ... and those who will come. That day, each of us received a personal confirmation. For some it was the wind tickling their heels, others a raven calling from above, one a voice whispering 'Ashne Ate' (I AM love always, Quero Apache). Butterflies came for me, a pair dancing over the brush stand below, fluttering by as I opened my eyes to receive Nature's blessing. My great-full heart pounded, and then fell. They had disappeared; no longer visible ... I began to doubt this gift of confirmation. 'Are butterflies even out this time of year?!?!' 'Am I making this up?!?!'... 'What if ...' The internal dialog was furiously plowing through my state of peace-full being, and then I remembered a lifelong pattern I'd recently become aware of: => I tended to doubt myself, my choices, and the signs ... just before the miracle/goal/answer appears. Over the years, I've turned around countless times on a journey, thinking I've gone wrong somewhere, when the destination was just around the bend!!! It took years of repetition for me to notice the pattern, and NOW, only a moment to let go and give thanks for being willing to trust myself, and for the wisdom to surrender to Spirit's messengers. I remember having a huge argument with my sister about a family matter, and being one of those people that does not like conflict, this incident stressed me completely. I tried everything to shake it off, to let it go, but it hung around like a dark cloud. The next day, I was driving and the song, We Got the Beat by the Go-Go’s came on and before I knew it, I was singing out loud and dancing in the car… instant relief. I went home, listened to more music, turned it up and danced for about 30 minutes. It was deliciously exhausting and the dark cloud was gone. To this day, I still use dance to shake off and release stress. Music and Dance are healing. A sacred space is where we can turn to when we just need to be alone, to reflect on ourselves and on how to improve. The good news… you don’t have to simplify it all at once. Do one thing at a time, and take small steps. You’ll get there, and have fun doing it. By getting rid of clutter, things and relationships that no longer serve you, you clear out heavy, static energy that that keeps you stuck and weighed down. As you purge, you’ll notice a feeling of lightness, a nice and easy flow, a reconnection to self.

Purge a drawer, shelf, countertop, or a corner of a room. Not an entire room or even an entire closet, just one small area. You can use that small area as your base of simplicity, and then expand from there. Don’t wait until you’ve accumulated a mass amount of stuff to purge. Purge or donate items immediately so you’re not enticed to change your mind. Take small steps and before you know it, you will be “free flowing.”

I have many pictures of him but this one captures his personality so completely. Loving and caring for him these past 10 years has given me so much joy, and has opened my heart in an unexpected way. 25 Ways to Release Reconnect & Renew Reconnect With Your Body Ever wake up and think, “This is not my body”? It’s happened to most of us. One day the toll of the years, or inattention, or discomfort, or disconnection shows up all at once and we find ourselves feeling alienated from our own skin, muscle, bone, nerves, and cells. What do you do? Reclaim your territory! Reconnect! When you feel alienated from your body reconnecting might sound like a difficult task, but as with anything if you take it one step at a time you’ll find it’s not such a challenge. Consider the following: 1. Remember what makes you feel good in your body, and do those things. Swim, dance, jog, play, make love or get a massage. Do these things. Every day choose at least one feel-good-in-your-body activity and do it. 2. Take inventory of the things that make you feel bad in your skin, eating poorly, sitting around too much, stress, what you wear, and over-exposure to media that focuses on form over function. Take action to minimize the impact of these things, eat better—remember slow and steady wins the race. Little changes that you make over time are more likely to stick, and little changes all add up to big changes when you stick to them. 3. Forgive yourself. Reconnect by actually looking at your body, (stop avoiding the mirror), touching your body, (give yourself a hug) and accepting change.

25 Ways to Release Reconnect & Renew Reconnect With Family & Friends Taking the time to connect with those you love will bring you true happiness. The more you do it, the happier you’ll be. Here are some tips: 

Have 5 minutes? Send an email. It doesn’t take long to send an email to someone you care about, asking them how they are and wishing them a good day. This small gesture could go a long way, especially if you follow it up over time with regular emails.

Have 10 minutes? Call them up. A phone call is an easy way to connect with someone. It’s conversation, without the need for travel. What an invention! :)

Have 30 minutes? You might not get the chance to do this every day, but at least once a week, take 30 minutes to visit a family member or friend and just visit. It’ll be some of the best 30 minutes you’ll spend this week.

Have a couple hours? Invite someone to breakfast or lunch. Who among us doesn’t have a couple of free hours each month? Weekends, or evenings, instead of indulging in mindless television or internet surfing, devote it to a friend or family member. If you truly don’t have any time for family and friends, you might need to do what I call, Edit Your Life.

Be present. Don’t spend time with someone and keep answering calls or texts. Make it quality time and do NOT make it seem like you’re doing them a favor by spending time.
