SKORDULI TATIANA

Living in Italy, I feel how delicate intervention in the environment must be. Here, as nowhere else, history in all its manifestations is honored. In Russia, where I come from, on the contra ry, reverence for the new and disdain for heritage prevail. Knowing the two extremes gives me a dis tinct professional vision, which I consider to be my core professional identity.

NEW RELIGION

The Iceland Greenhouse Restaurant Pro ject is a symbiosis of a classic threeaisled basilica with a greenhouse as a unique way to grow food in an unsuita ble, harsh climate. It is literally an ode to growing crops in the Arctic Circle as a great chance to save body and soul in our increasingly overpopulated and un der-resourced future. The unexpected architectural interaction of archaic typol ogies made it easy to provide all techno logical processes and functional require ments based on sustainable principles.

MUSEUM

A night at the museum is a unique experience. The night should be re membered as something special. I do not strive to comply with the stand ards and rules for design ing rooms for daily rent. I fit the living space in the “back room” of the muse um. For each masterpiece of the artist Costantino Nivola I propose a special stylobate that emphasiz es the sculpture and the living units are integrat ed in the thickness of this stylobate. Each room has a panoramic view to the city and an entrance door yet to be found.

KIOSK OF THE FUTURE

UNFOLDED

By definition, kiosks are located in the key city nods for commercial purpos es - to use an active flow of people for sales. But what if you put a kiosk where there are NO people? If a kiosk will not exploit the human flow, but rather ac cumulate it. My idea is to use a kiosk to bring people to places where they normally don’t go. Thus, the atmos phere that can be created can have a “healing” effect on an unclaimed piece of the city. The kiosk itself is modular, composing depending on the context.

1/ City

Kiosks often spoil the ap pearance of the streets and obstruct pedestri ans: waste of city space.

2/ Expansion

Attempts to increase profitability lead to “clogging” the urban environ ment. The kiosk grows from a com pact booth into something shape less, devouring the space around.

3/ Unfold

The panoramic overlook is of ten not used: usually only one part of the facade is open while the rest is used as an extra space for an exposition\advertisment

TIME GARDEN

The act of gradual absorption of the remains of an architectural monument by nature is particular to me. The Penafirme Convent has been exposed to the forces of nature for cen turies: the boundaries are blurred, the physi cal presence of history is overgrown with bush and covered with sand. The former sacred ness and isolation of the monastery court yard has been damaged, the cloister is now permeable, its structure is barely readable. In my thoughts about ruins and intervention, I lock the monastery walls to restore introver sy and secrecy. I emphasize the traces of the historical landscape being devoured by time.

With the future in such a state of uncertainty more strained than ever, there is one silent threat that could end up be ing more deadly and dangerous to humanity than a hun dred pandemics: nuclear weapons. The momument of the last nuclear bomb is located within a decommis sioned nuclear weapon testing site. That day will be a GREAT DAY , an achievement for all mankind. The crater from the explosion will be flooded with red .... flowers.

PRODUCTION VS. WASTE

Solid waste generated by the lu xury marble manufacture has the same highest qualities but in smaller si zes. In reality, discarded fragments and cutting pieces are just a bur den, which occupies an area on a factory and decays. The percentage of defected stone is high and it has become necessary to find a way to reuse natural stone waste. This se ries of objects is designed to draw attention to the reuse of stone.

In my thesis, I try to arrange the life of a forest(ry) community in a landscape without harming the ecosystem, but fully adapting to it.
