Die beiliegende CD enthält hauptsächlich Instrumentalklänge

CD Track 1 - 9 werden bei der Aufführung vom Dirigenten zugespielt (per Keyboard/Samples)

CD Track 10 - 15 sind für die Instrumentalisten, die diese Klänge imitieren sollen.

The accompanying CD consists of mostly instrumental sounds

CD Tracks 1-9 are to be played in the performance by the conductor (using a keyboard/sampler)

CD tracks 10-15 are for the instrumentalist, who should imitate these sounds.

The stereo files should be loaded into a sampler or similar and be trigged from a keyboard. It is important to fix the velocity in order to avoid arbitrary dynamical results. The samples are mutually balanced, it will only be necessary to adjust the overall volume level. A pair of loudspeakers should be placed behind the ensemble, to blend well with the acoustical sound.

Gliss.: ein schweres Holzstück wird sehr fest auf die Saite gedrückt, bevor sie angeschlagen wird und dann bewegt, um ein glissando zu erreichen. Auch mit einem Glas möglich, aber es darf nicht rasseln!

Gliss.: press down a heavy piece of wood very firmly on the string, then hit the key and subsequently side to generate the glissando. It is also possible to use a glass, but avoid rattle!

Patafix: ein Stückchen Patafix wird auf die Saiten des Tones fis’’ gedrückt; ca. 1 cm vom hintersten Punkt entfernt. Es soll ein f’’ klingen , wie ein woodblock („tok“ Klang)

Patafix®: press a piece of a Patafix® glue pad (or similar adhesive, used to mount photos) onto the f-sharp string; it should be positioned ca. 1 cm from the furthest point of the string. The sounding pitch should be f-natural and the timbre is similar to a wood block (“tok” sound)

Blindnieten: zwischen die Saiten von fis werden 2 Blindnieten gesteckt. Es entsteht ein schöner schwebender Klang wie ein Gong. Dazu wird mit einer Telefonkarte von cis bis fis quer über die Saiten gestrichen. Es soll wie eine Mechanik klingen, die den Gongschlag auslöst.

rivets: the triple strung f-sharp strings should be prepared by sticking 2 rivets between the strings. The result is a beautiful floating sound like a gong. In addition a telephone card should be laid across the string from c-sharp to f-sharp. It should sound like a mechanism that triggers a gong stroke

arco: ca. 8 kolophonierte Bogenhaare eines alten Bogenbezugs an den Enden zusammenknoten und unter folgende Saiten einfädeln: g, e’’ Beim Streichen möglichst horizontal hin- und herziehen um einen guten Bogenwechsel zu erreichen ca. 8 bow hairs from an old violin bow tied together and threated under the strings: g, e’’

Holz fällt: 1-2 Holzstücke werden auf den Boden geworfen. Wood: throw 1-2 pieces of wood on the floor.

Klarinettenblattschoner: die Plastikhülle eines Klarinettenblattes wird in der Mitte gefasst und mit der offenen Seite langsam über die geriffelte Basssaite gezogen, mit relativ starkem Druck. Es ergibt einen resonanzreichen repetitiven Klang. Es wird in der Mitte der Saite begonnen und zu den Dämpfern gezogen (ohne Pedal)

A plastic case for a clarinet reed: hold the plastic case in the middle and scrape the wounded bass strings with the with the open side of the case, with a good deal of pressure. The result is a resonant sequence of impulses. Start in the middle of the string and stop when you reach the dampers (without pedal).

Müllsack mit Luft füllen und auf Boden aufschlagen: Luftschlag garbage bag: fill a garbage bag with air and hit it against the floor

Nylon: the type of nylon that percussion bags are made from. Draw a plectrum quickly and lightly across the surface giving a clear bright sound. The gesture is as if wiping something away.

Streicher / Strings

= col legno or with the back side of the frog (bow held vertically) push the string down and then let go, this should be as accented as possible.

Mehrklang:

Mit dem Bogen auf der” falschen” Seite des Grifffingers spielen, dabei etwas starker drücken (bei normalem Druck klingt nur das Flageolett).

Der Abstand zwischen Bogen und Grifffinger sollte 1-2 cm betragen.

Multiphonic:

Play with the bow on the “wrong” side of the left hand finger. Press a little more than normal (with normal pressure only the harmonic will sound).

The distance between b ow and finger should be 1-2 cm

Exercise: finger on 9th harmonic, than change the pressure. With this you get the right feeling.

Pizz (Glas):

= mit der linken Hand wird mit einem großen Joghurtglas die Tonhöhe “gegriffen”, heruntergedrückt. Durch den kreisenden Wechsel der Tonhöhe entstehen Glissandonachklänge.
