Nicola LeFanu (b. 1947) studied at Oxford, the Royal College of Music in London and at Harvard University. She has composed more than a hundred works, which have been widely played, broadcast and recorded. She has been commissioned by the BBC (including the Proms), by festivals, and by leading orchestras, ensembles and soloists. LeFanu has an affnity for vocal music and has composed eight operas, which have been staged in the UK, Ireland and the USA. They include Dawnpath (1977), the children’s opera The Green Children (1990), Light Passing (2004), Dream Hunter (2011) and Tokaido Road (2014). She is active in many aspects of the music pro-fession; from 1994 to 2008 she was Professor of Music at the University of York.

Nicola LeFanu (*1947) studierte in Oxford, am Royal College of Music in London sowie an der Harvard University. Ihr Schaffen umfasst mehr als hundert Werke, die vielfach aufgeführt, eingespielt und im Rundfunk übertragen wurden. Kompositionsaufträge erhielt sie von der BBC (u.a. für die Proms), von diversen Festivals sowie von führenden Orchestern, Ensembles und Solisten. LeFanus besonderes Interesse gilt der Vokalmusik. Zu ihren acht Opern, die in Großbritannien, Irland und den USA inszeniert wurden, zählen Dawnpath (1977), die Kinderoper The Green Children (1990), Light Passing (2004), Dream Hunter (2011) und Tokaido Road (2014). Sie ist in vielen Bereichen des Musiklebens aktiv; so bekleidete sie von 1994 bis 2008 eine Professur für Musik an der Universität York.
