This work commissioned by SONY Classical, the San Francisco Symphony, the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Joshua Bell, was inspired by the film The Red Violin. It was premiered November 25, 1997 by the San Francisco Symphony under the direction of Robert Spano, with Joshua Bell, soloist.
