VISITOR INFORMATION 
When visitors go to Mount Vernon they see the slave quarters; that is where the slaves slept, the kitchen, stables, and the green house.
During the Christmas holiday, visitors are treated to a 18th century tour of the mansion with Martha Washington (played by a character).
INTERESTING FACTS The plantation was 2,000-8,000 acres long. George Washington lived in Mount Vernon for 40 years. Since Mount Vernon opened to the public, 80 million people have toured the mansion. Mount Vernon was named after a British Admiral, named Edward Vernon, Mount Vernon was built in the 1700’s Mr. Washington helped design his house.
