Get Dundee It’s all heating up here at Scottish Dance Theatre HQ! We’re delighted to introduce a new partnership with Dance Ihayami who will lead classes in the Indian Classical dance form, Bharatanatyam. Check out the new term’s ‘Love to Try’ tasters or Masterclasses on the website or see below for your firm favs. We’ve slightly increased our class prices this term. Creative Dance for Children For ages 8 -11
Young people have fun whilst gaining confidence through learning new moves with positive and encouraging teaching by our experienced tutors. TERM DATES: Saturdays from 25 April to 27 June TIMES: 11.30 -12.45pm PRICE: £45 for 10 sessions or £67.50 for 2 in the same family
Do Your Thing!
Fun, accessible class for all Explore how to get the most out of dance, individually and in groups. No previous experience is necessary, just bring your enthusiasm. The class welcomes people with and without disabilities. Please call Dawn on 01382 342 600 to discuss access needs. TERM DATES: Saturdays from 25 April to 27 June TIME: 10 -11am PRICE: £4.50 per day/£40 for 10 sessions
Youth Dance Company
For ages 12 - 18 The company works on creative tasks and Contemporary Dance Technique. This group also performs at a variety of extra events throughout the year. TERM DATES: Wednesdays from 22 April to 1 July TIME: 6.30 - 8pm PRICE: £74 for 11 sessions or £111 for 2 in the same family.
Adult Contemporary Dance For ages 14+
Technical exercises and sequences are taught to build strength, co-ordination and flexibility. Ideal for people with previous dance experience. TERM DATES: Tuesdays from 21 April to 9 June. TIME: 6.30 - 8pm PRICE: £7/£5 SSCD students + concessions pay on the day or £54/£32 concession for 8 session term.
Masterclasses For ages 14+

I’d love to try...but I’ve got no time For ages 14+
Try a dance style you’ve never tried before at our one off dance sessions in a variety of styles and techniques for those who want to do something a bit different but can’t commit to weekly attendance. Bharatanatyam Classes with Dance Ihayami Children Ages 7+ & Adults
Bharatanatyam Beginners An introduction to one of India's 8 classical dance forms, Bharatanatyam is a harmonious blend of expressions, gestures, and strong rhythmic footwork. You will learn basic sets of footwork (adavus) and hand gestures (mudras), and learn a dance sequence to music. Bharatanatyam Improvers/Intermediate Open to students who have prior experience in Bharatanatyam. The class will build on basic adavus and introduce more complex sets of steps and rhythms. Attending our classes
Hardship fund
Please arrive at Dundee Rep Theatre 10-15 minutes before your class is due to start. You will be met by one of our fully trained support workers in the foyer. The support worker attached to your session will take the register, take payments if you pay weekly, escort groups to and from our dance studio and help you with any questions you may have. Please wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to move freely. Shoes aren’t allowed to be worn in the dance studio so you can either wear soft dance shoes or dance in bare feet. There are both male and female changing rooms next to the dance studio should you need them.

All our classes are held at Dundee Rep Theatre, Tay Square, Dundee, DD1 1PB.

Concessions
Where applicable, concessionary prices are listed in brackets and are available to students and those in receipt of benefits. If you would like to pay for a block of classes in 4 monthly installments, please email aforrest@scottishdancetheatre.com
Latecomers
If you would like to attend any of our classes but cannot afford to, apply to our Hardship Fund. Write a short paragraph about why you want to attend and how you think the classes would benefit you. Scottish Dance Theatre runs a strict child protection policy. All teachers and support workers have the appropriate checks.
Photography
We sometimes take photos of our classes and workshops for marketing purposes. Permission will be sought by Scottish Dance Theatre beforehand.
Spectators
We do not usually allow spectators as it can distract participants.
Access & Inclusion
At Scottish Dance Theatre we believe dance is for everyone and want to bring as many people, from all walks of life, into contact with dance. Dundee Rep is fully accessible to wheelchair users, and our dance studio is open to everyone. If you have any access requirements that you wish to discuss with us, please call Dawn Hartley on 01382 342600.
Latecomers may not be admitted as everyone needs to warm up together.
