STEPHANIE DEES REVISITED
REVISITED Stephanie’s paintings evoke atmosphere and fond memories. She enjoys portraying the numerous effects light and different seasons have on the landscape both urban and rural. In this new body of work Stephanie Dees has looked again at the city of Edinburgh. Her works capture the quiet elegance and character of her adopted city, where she has focused on New and Old Town scenes. Also included in the show will be several sensitive landscapes of East Lothian, painted close to where the artist lives and grew up. Through this new exhibition, Revisited, we see the artist’s ability to capture Edinburgh’s familiar sights a new. In the work she has used mixed media including acrylic, oil bar, oil pastel and pencil with quick expressive marks to convey the patterns and rhythms of the city’s architecture . She also uses pure watercolour in some pieces which helps her portray the translucency of a pale winter sky or the reflective poignancy of a summer evening looking out to sea.
