THE MUSICIANS UNION SET THE INDUSTRY STANDARD RATES FOR MUSICIANS FEES. THESE RATES SHOULD BE PAID BY VENUES AND FESTIVALS FUNDED BY CREATIVE SCOTLAND AND OTHER FUNDERS. THEY SHOULD ALSO BE USED WHEN CALCULATING COSTS FOR FUNDING APPLICATIONS AS STATED IN THE CREATIVE SCOTLAND CRITERIA. Guidance Notes: The Musician’s Union live rates are based on an hourly rate which a self-employed musician needs to charge in order to earn an income, relative to their training, experience and expertise. The rates are always the minimum and take into account that holiday pay, sickness pay and maternity and paternity pay need to be factored in a self-employed hourly rate. Individual negotiations can be made based on these minimum rates. www.musiciansunion.org.uk for more information.
