A LETTER FROM SHARON

Dearest Animal Friend It’s Sharon Comrie here. How are you doing during these strange times? You may wonder why I’m writing this letter? Like so many others, my plans were put on hold when I found myself working from home earlier this year. After 47 years working hands on with animals and managing our rescue centres, I’d just started my new role as Head of Partnerships. I call it my ‘swan song’ now that I’m 61 years young! Anyhow, I got thinking about all the people like you who so generously support the Scottish SPCA and I was also greatly aware that many people don’t have access to the digital world to receive our emails and social media messages, so I started making some phone calls (only to those of course who have given permission to be contacted by phone). If we haven’t already chatted please do let me know if you need some advice about a pet, would you like to find out more about our work at the Scottish SPCA? Or would just like to have chat over the phone. Whatever the reason please don’t hesitate to get in touch as I’d love to hear from you. Every person I’ve spoken to so far has added many new shades to my life. We have laughed and cried, blethered about everything from how good corn beef is to when will Eastenders be back on the telly and even if it’s a good idea to paint a living room post box red! I’ve been so humbled by the chats I’ve had and hope I’ve helped brighten up a day or two. Despite being a little worried about ‘pestering’ people, not one person was cross with me Animal Guru phoning. I know that if the animals in our care could only speak to you they would celebrate your kindness and thank you for your support which helps animals that are sick, injured, orphaned, abused and fragile beyond belief. You truly are a special person and please don’t hesitate to get in touch. All you need to do is call our Helpline on 03000 999 999 and request a call from Sharon. My lovely colleagues will take your name and number and I’ll make sure I call you back promptly. In the meantime, please stay safe and well.

Get a unique pawtrait of your pet and help care for Scotland’s animals, but there’s a catch.

The ‘artists’ are staff and volunteers of the Scottish SPCA who are a whole lot better at caring for animals than they are at drawing them.

So while your dachshund might end up looking more sausage than dog, the money donated will help care for animals across Scotland and we’ll hopefully put a smile on your face too.
