Soulful Sweets from the Heart
Who Knew Recovering Could Taste So Good? Out of the many things I’ve learned in my recovery thus far, three stand out as Life Lessons: 1. I am stronger than I knew.
Made to order, just for you!
2. There are truly phenomenal people in the world who want to help you live the best life possible. 3. Food is a powerful way of communicating feelings to those you care about.
While I was staying at a crisis house, I discovered that cooking was great therapy for me— especially baking. Not only did the preparation help to ground me, and provide structure; but sharing the finished product allowed me to express my feelings non-verbally. It is a simple message between the person baking, and the person eating that says “You are special to me.” So when you take a bite of these creations, know that I am saying:“This is made for you with love.”

ORDERING This is all new for me, so we’ll call this the “Beta Version.” The process is bound to have kinks. But unlike Healthcare.gov, I’m telling you in advance.
There are two ways to order: By Email
Click on the “Orders” page on the Fortune’s Cookie website, or download the form; fill it out, and email your order to fortunescookiesstore@gmail.com. I will do my best to send you a confirmation within 24 hours. Please specify the email address you’d like for me to use when sending the response. I would prefer your work email, however personal addresses work too.
By Phone
I have a government phone with no bells and whistles (I’m not complaining—it is indispensable to me right now), but it does have voicemail. When leaving your order, please specify your name; the name of the cupcake(s), and/or cookies you’d like , along with your choice of additional ingredients (if available) from the menu; the quantity, and the total for your entire order. Also leave the best number to reach you, and the best time to call. As with email, I will confirm your order within 24 hours.
Delivery
I’m still working with my Case Manager to brainstorm the best way to do this. Right now, there are two ways to get your order: 1. In the lobby of 801 Pennsylvania Avenue. I will make deliveries two times a week: on Wednesdays and Fridays (delivery times will vary, but it will always be by 4PM. I will include the estimated time of arrival in the confirmation). If you order on Monday, Tuesday or Friday, your order will be ready on the following Wednesday. If you order on Wednesday or Thursday, your order will be ready on the following Friday. I will set up a little space at one of the tables, and you can come down and pick up your order. Right now, I can only accept cash; and if at all possible I would prefer the exact amount (‘cause I’m broke, and can’t make change). Thanks so much! 2. In Person. If you’d like for me to deliver your desserts directly to you, please specify this in your initial order. Tell me the best times to deliver and where you are located, and I will tell you what time I will be delivering in your confirmation. If you, or a designate cannot pick up your order, please let me know as soon as possible. I will contact you by the method in which you made your order (email or phone) and work out a way to get your goodies to you. Whew! Thank you in advance for your patience and your patronage!
