Meet Our Designers Maria Bosak - Eco Chic Owner
Maria Bosak is the creator and owner of Eco Chic Boutique. Bosak’s entrepreneurial spirit was ignited in 2005 as she and her sister Tanya launched MT Enterprises, as they built a strip mall in their hometown of Webster, SD. After two years of running the Dollar Den, they sold the business and in 2010 Bosak opened up Eco Chic Boutique in Fargo, ND. She was the first to grab hold of the now famous Chalk Paint® by Annie Sloan in 2011. After launching the paint, she transformed re-purposed furniture painting in the region and led the charge on teaching and training of this new technique. In 2012, Bosak curated the area’s finest Junk Market, which has grown from a parking lot market with 31 vendors and 1,000 guests to a multi-building fairgrounds event highlighting the work of 85 vendors and welcoming 3,600 guests. Bosak expanded the Eco Chic Boutique brand by opening a second store location in Bismarck in the fall of 2013 and has grown the retail stores to be the largest retailer of repurposed furniture and home décor in the region.
Carrie S Brusven - Creative Director After eight years of sitting behind a desk and answering phones, Carrie was inspired to go out and create the life she really wanted. She fell head over heels in love with the world of design and discovered that she is an entrepreneur at heart. Her style has grown out of a love of a more simple life, and all things aged, weathered, and worn—the rustier the better! Home and family are at the core of everything that is important to her and she loves using both natural and industrial elements in her designs. She sees potential in everything and enjoys finding and exploiting the unique character and personality in every project! Carrie gets particular joy out of giving new life to something old and forgotten, and the moment when a project comes together just right, it spurs endless mental squealing and giggling! When she is not dreaming of rust and chippy paint at Eco Chic, she is using them to decorate for weddings and large events with her evening and weekend time. But most importantly, Carrie loves building forts and playing Dinosaur Mommy with her two little boys, Miles and Simon, and sitting around a cozy fire with a glass of wine, and her husband Scott, while bringing new meaning to the words “entrepreneurial addicts.”
