Diane CareyStranko and Mary Ann Coulter

It is entirely possible that one could do a double-take at the next corporate event at Security Properties Residential. Diane Carey-Stranko, Assistant Manager at The Hamptons at Woodland Pointe, and Mary Ann Coulter, Senior Property Manager at The Crossroads at the Gulch, are identical twins.

Mary Ann has worked for Security Properties for over four years, beginning at the Hamptons property. When the time came for her to move to another location, ownership lamented that she was moving and said, “Mary Ann, I just wish there was another one of you.” She said, “There is.” She recommended her sister for the job, and Diane started not long afterwards. That is when the confusion started. For months, many residents and vendors did not realize that Mary Ann had even moved. Diane said she had to Facetime her sister at least ten times during that first six months to prove that she was not Mary Ann. Fun facts about the twins abound.

• Diane and Mary Ann excelled in field hockey during their school days. Diane held the New Jersey state record for most goals (46) scored in a season for 19 years, when her niece broke the record.

• Their nicknames for each other are Meno and Meno Meno. (Don’t ask who is who. It is a little confusing.)

• They originally came to Nashville to pursue a music career years ago. Mary Ann and Diane had a development deal with RCA records.

• They attended college in New York at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy for the Performing Arts. (Isn’t this where all property managers go to college?)

• Not only are they identical twins, but they are also mirror twins. One is left-handed, the other is righthanded.

• In their hometown of Florence, New Jersey, a park is named in honor of their Fire Chief father, Clark Carey. He passed away when the girls were 18 years old.

• Diane and Mary Ann followed in their father’s footsteps and served as firefighters for four years in New Jersey before moving to Nashville. They were the first set of identical twins to graduate from the New Jersey State Fire Academy.

Mary Ann and Diane concur that the favorite part of their jobs is simply helping people. They strive to make work a family affair, which certainly includes tough love at times. Diane says, “We are here to help. If you are in this job just for the paycheck, you are in the wrong business.” Mary Ann prides herself on the fact that her entire staff greets everyone who comes through the door with a hello and a smile.
